Very enjoyable and also sad to watch. It’s depressing seeing how our rail infrastructure has been allowed to fall into ruin though lack of investment.

Greetings from The Summit. Lived there 50's to 1964. Terrific stuff. @1:34:35 The Rabbit Proof Fence, worked very well. There were Rabbits on both sides. @1:36:25 Turn left at this road about 100 meters.??? and the New South Wales Border fence is dead ahead, right there.. @ 1:48:21 The house, green roof., right hand side. At or about 1950?? Italians grew tobacco on this farm, for a couple of years. Bugs and grubs beat 'em. POI, With the New South Wales Border, ducking and weaving close ( 3 miles) to this area, at Marylands Border Gate, you head pretty well due North to enter NSW from Qld. @1:49:46 The Summit State School. I did, 1962, the last grade 8 scholarship exam here.

During the ‘90s I travelled from Dirranbandi, the train carried general freight with two sleeping cars attached, a pig in a wooden cage with metal bars was offloaded. The train took up passengers from Roma Street and I was curious about this, I waited at the right time, Friday evening, the modern Roma Street electronic destination signs showed “Dirranbandi Mail”. I was impressed that passengers boarded the train after Ipswich and detrained a few stops later. This was on a once a week train, the consist was a mixed - assorted goods wagons and two wooden sleeping cars. The train terminated at Towoomba at midday where passengers must alight. I was pleased to alight from a mixed and had lunch at the classic Railway Refreshment Room, I had corned beef.

This section of line was built to accommodate conversion to standard gauge if required. The 2 tunnels were constructed to the loading gauge of NSWGR.
