@@jdg6192 Story mode is about the only thing you have full access to in terms of completion. If you want the best cars in the game, you need to do the seasonal events which, by default, require extremely-hard-to-obtain vehicles that will grant you access to the Starway events and special cars of the month (basically, you need already-hard-to-get cars to do the hard-to-get seasonal events which is just stupid). The only thing besides campaign that is even remotely generous are the daily events.

Asphalt 6 and 7 was the peak of quality and the last good game before the release of Paysphalt 8 when Greedloft started to put pay to win, abusive micro-transactions, career with vehicles restrictions, rubberbanding, bugs that makes you progress be lost, class A vehicles being obtened with premium money, fusion coins, expensive cars each update and everything to making you waste money like a casino. Wan't to play decent racing games? Abandon this crappy mobile industry which died in 2013, you can't find a decent racing game easily. Install emulators like PPSSPP, Citra 3DS, Duckstation, AetherSX2 and every others that would have the true and decent racing game experience with decent progression, no pay to win, no boring generic gameplays, no bad element and frustrating elements.

guess what? Asphalt 9 has none of those money problems you mentioned. Premium currency? Nah. Every currency can be obtained at a reasonable rate without spending a single cent. Fusion coins? In Asphalt 9? Never. In fact you don't even obtain the cars with the currencies in Asphalt 9, just play the game (especially the daily events (this is very important and will allow you to progress so much faster than if you ignore the daily events)) and the cars will unlock themselves. Once you have the best blueprint obtainable cars you can then participate in events that unlock you the cars held behind keys (aka the best ones in the game).

Asphalt 9 continues to be a pay to win game, there are just a few steps left to become like Asphalt 8, but for now there are still stupid mechanics of abusive micro-transactions, forced difficulty and massive grind keeping players stuck in the same event session for weeks just to win a single car or upgrade package, instead of the normal way that the premium games does.

- Asphalt Urban GT 1 & 2: haven't played, but it feels good somehow - Asphalt 3 & 4: I don't know, never like its drifting, but considering mobile phones back then, it was OK. I had fun with Asphalt 4 on iOS back then - Asphalt 5, 6, 3D, 7, 8 (back in 2015 version): people would look at them and say: "Now that's an Asphalt game, better graphics every release, amazing HUD and menu design, good soundtrack, no P2w in your face. We all loved them." - Asphalt 8 now: If you played it back in 2015, grind it from 2015 to now and had an account which still good till this day, then it still enjoyable. If you just installed it now, you would instantly lose interest - Asphalt Nitro: Not bad, basically like Asphalt 8 but for low-end phones. For this game I feel like people would consider the hack version (mod apk - unlimited money, gems...) of the game. - Asphalt Xtreme: Like Motorstorm but for mobile. It was the most hyped thing in the community before Asphalt 9. Sad to see it was shutdown and only to be back as a Netflix Game. - Asphalt 9: P2W (or watch ads) in your face, it's everywhere, now you have to have enough cards, not just money or gem to have a car. The sense of speed is worse than 7 & 8 (Unless you got to drive a Lamborghini, which probably is a prize from the lootbox, then you will feel the difference especially when hit 400km/h), but the track is really short and repetitive. And you have to be online to play like Asphalt Xtreme. The only good thing about this game is good soundtrack, better graphics and new menu design. Edit: - Asphalt Nitro 2: Literally like Asphalt 9 but for low-end phones, which is terrible too. You can play it offline though. That means you could play the hack version of the game, but then you would finish it in just 2 days.
