Our current federal taxes per se, and where those go, are not really the issue. More to the point is what we’re spending on commercial insurance and on what that doesn’t cover, which adds up to a bigger bill for less in return than we’d get with Medicare for All. That’s not to imply that our public fiscal policy could not have much better priorities than stuffing the already fat pockets of billionaires, even apart from health insurance. It’s just to note that the healthcare enterprise (even without the profit and other overhead) would be about as big as the _total_ federal budget was in 2019.

You don't need to take over the companies, you just need to properly regulate them, you can even change partial ownership in the companies. Everything paid for by the government could be a share in the company. Some counties do similar things with government funding.

Sometimes we do. Sometimes the big branded pharma companies pay generic pharma manufacturers to NOT make generic versions of their branded drugs. We need publicly-owned companies to make the generics people need and the private pharma companies don’t want to make. I think CA and NY are considering the idea. I hope they follow through.

Dude take a win! If the other guy is willing to work with us to so we both get something we want, I'm on board. Fight the people who are fighting you! If the Republicans are ACTUALLY willing to compromise or even just agree on an issue, I'll take that! Now, I don't expect even 5% of MAGA to be remotely reasonable. But I would love to be wrong! If out of nowhere, suddenly MAGA is actually willing to talk, then we can talk. But if all they want to say is "Praise God-King Trump" then it'll be a short conversation.

@Mydogslove2laugh I do watch TYT and I do think they have a point. I don't expect any MAGA politicians to give to cents, but most of MAGA is blind and delusional. All they ever consume is MAGA drivel and brain dead right wing talking points. But some of them might actually be reasonable if we get our message across. If it's true that some of MAGA is anti war or anti corruption or actually cares about the well being of the American people, put these ideas in their heads! Then some of them will likely think, "huh, that sounds kinda good" and when they ask their leaders for it and their leaders treat them like shit like they do anyone else it could open some eyes. There are plenty of people who voted against Harris/Biden, but not for Trump. Those are the people we need to talk to.
