If you carry a firearm in your bag, you're allowed to use a REAL lock, not just a TSA lock. You're not really going to prevent someone from getting in a bag if they want to do it. What you *can* do is make it so that it slows them down or they have to leave physical evidence that they entered the bag. The Pelican cases are nice and sturdy and you can put good locks on them, but they are made from plastic and it would be short work with a knife of hacksaw blade to cut the hasp and let the lock fall away. Plus, the Pelican cases are heavy enough that you limit what you can carry since the case itself takes up so much of your bag's weight allotment. Besides, nothing says "steal me" like a Pelican case. The crooks figure that if you paid enough for a Pelican case, there must be something in it worth stealing. One thing that you need to consider with respect to external locks on luggage is the amount of damage that just normal luggage handling by the baggage monkeys does to the luggage. I've seen the wheels broken off of luggage. At one time, I had made a chain that would wrap around the luggage similar to the lock with straps that this video is advertising. It worked, but you could definitely see increased wear on the luggage from where the baggage monkeys tossed the luggage around and the chains added a hard point for the impacts.

If you are too worry about the stuff you have inside then buy the Pelicase and install ink cartridges inside (those things that are used in cash transits) and lock it up with the biggest locks you can fit to it with shortest loops you can find. You will be informed for sure if some one has opened it up without your permission to do so :) Second best option is to take all valuable gear with you in the cabin and put only clothes and such in the cargo hold. I have also find out that in flights that fly around Europe you can heavily overload your cabin bags, since if you don't have anything to put in cargo hold you can check yourself in with cellphone and your bags will not get weigh up in any point. The only place where they weight them is the desk where you check in and hand over your bigger bags that go in cargo hold. I mostly do one week trips and can pack all my clothes in the cabin size bag since it can be heavily over weighted and then most airlines let you take the second bag like women's can have a purse and men's typically back pack or laptop case. Then I put my laptop, DSLR, all the lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries in there (since you are not able to put them in cargo anyway), then couple lenses and other stuff that weights a lot and need to be handled with care. Because sometimes they put your cabin size bag in the cargo hold for free if the plane is getting full. Just make sure that your backpack or purse is going under the seat front of you and you will be safe. Also if you have hard case, by that I mean the both sides of the case are hard material and you don't give a fuck about its look you can put tamper proof tape to it so you will see if the tape is opened in some point. It doesn't protect you from thieves but it will show you if some one has opened the case. For example if you pick up your case on the next airfield and then security shows up with the dog and ask you that have you packed your case yourself, well everyone says yes but saying like "yes but if there is drugs they r not mine" is not that legit you know. But if you see that your tamper proof tape seal is broken you can say that the bag has been opened somewhere on the way here. And you kind of have some proof about it. Also I believe thieves try to avoid bags that have tamper proof tape on them because then its very obvious that the bag have been opened.

When I fly on dive vacations, I carry my regulators and weights onboard with me. The weights because they take up my weight allowance for the normal bags and the regulators because they are more expensive to replace at a last minute and are easy to steal. Of course, I always get pulled aside by TSA to see what I have in my bag since those items probably look a bit strange on the x-ray images of the bags.

That strap is all well and good if it wasn't for the fact that the combination would be just as easy hacked as opening the zip..... I tie wrap the zips together and then tie wrap them in place to the handle so they cannot be moved around together and the Thief will not be able to zip the bag back up once opened....

TSA locks are not to keep TSA agents out of your luggage, just everyone else. TSA has the right to break the lock or cut the strap if they cant gain access to inspect whats inside.
@tenderlion7958 жыл бұрын
they should contact you if they want to know whats inside

you agree by flying at all since 911 that if you fly the TSA has the right to search, so why break in?? lame bro...all they have to do is unlock it ...if you put a pad lock on, they have the RIGHT to cut your luggage open, toss it in a garbage bag and put a tag on saying you messed uo and did not use a TSA approved lock...
@cjdemarco507 жыл бұрын
they do not have to notify you
@cjdemarco507 жыл бұрын
Stefanos Zamanidis they bring you over to have you accessable to make a arrest but to inspect checked bags they do not have to notify you of anything....lame...the proguct is plain and simple being marketed incorrectly the strap is going to keep out the quik-cut pocket guy if you're in a bar the strap is going to keep the bag from falling apart when it goes on the conveyor belts and the strap to keep the honest bag and baggage handler from busting in it because there's cameras freaking everywhere all in the internal parts of an airport there's cameras in the external Parts in the public Parts in the non-public parts I don't know why you guys aren't getting this they don't have to notify you of anything it's a little thing called the Patriot Act but not believe that the National Security Act of 1953 also provides for it so this is lame just mark it as a strap to keep the pickpockets how to keep the bed put together on the conveyor belts and you got a decent product but if you look on Amazon there's about 18 of these not to straps but the cross straps whether they have locks or don't have locks

The TSA do notify you, When I was traveling and opened my checked bag when I arrived. I saw a slip of paper saying that the TSA has inspected your baggage.

notice how he hides the adjuster of the strap. you can easily adjust the strap longer to loosen it a little bit and slide it on the side. then open the zipper with a pen. so yeah, this is just to secure the luggage from accidentally opening the bag.
@MrMbabcock7 жыл бұрын
The strap length is not adjustable once the device is locked. The adjuster is encapsulated in the hub with teeth interacting with the strap to prevent adjustment. There was nothing intentionally hidden.

It's the luggage handlers inside the planes that I worry about. I'm sure they all know the pen trick.

I'm not sure but my uncle from u.s or his friend came to Philippines and he put his Rolex in the luggage, when he checked it, gone. It's really just them.

Exactly. And they can still plant it even in the last suitcase that has the strap around it. Probably the 2nd suitcase is better.

pelican cases have TSA approved locks built into the side. they can't just open it or cut it without a crowbar or serious saw.
@Angi35927 жыл бұрын
TSA won't have to do all that crap with the pen and screwdriver like u showed. if its TSA approved I'm sure theres a key to open it..or they'll just break the lock. Either way TSA can still get into the bag with or without your contraption. This is good for other people or passengers from getting into the bag though.
@MrMbabcock7 жыл бұрын
You are correct. A legitimate TSA agent will have the key to open the device for inspection. It is more directed at the unauthorized agent, baggage handlers, etc. The device makes it more difficult to access the bag and proves to be a significant deterrent. As you indicated, also serves to keep other travelers from accessing your bags on a Plane, Train, Ferry, even your hotel baggage check! Thanks for watching!

Does the lock have a key that accepts a tsa master key? One time I lost my key on a cruise and the guy that cleans the room asked me what tsa # i had on the lock, he looked through the keys and said try this one. It opened right up.

The Lock is a TSA approved and accessible lock by use of a coded key.

Why Africa? Travel Suitcases are tampered with in most, if not all, Airports world wide - including the USA....Sir! I am an American...I take strong offense to you insinuating that breaking into travel suitcases occurs mostly in Africa. Comment : point is that you just happen to mention Africa twice in your sakes pitch....why? Comment; As you know, the purpose of a TSA lock is to allow TSA agents within the USA to access all suitcases with having to remove a lock by what ever means necessary...hence the TSA lock. By the way, it is NOT necessary to purchase your luggage...installing a suitcase strap works just as well AND cost significantly less than the suitcase you are hawking....Sir. Next time try focusing on China or South America!
