Thank you so much! This video has helped me during this Corona virus pandemic since I'm an RT and we have to tape the ET tube when we prone our patients

We are only using leukoplast in our hospital (i dunno if everyone calls it the same though..that brown, sticky tape) will it be okay to use that? Wont it hurt the patient's skin? Plus,i wonder if i can manipulate that stubborn tape with my gloved hands.. 😔

Upper lip taping is hard when the patient doesn’t have good upper support. So I usually tape from under

That injures pts lower lip
@MrKiron122 жыл бұрын
Kinda dangerous since bottom lip moves more than the upper lip

hey george. It appears our new covid patients need tape and not a modern commercial holders. This is because commercial holders dig into our patients skin after long hours on prone positi0ons on rotatory beds(common on ards they develop). Looks like family members have found out the can suit for that despite commercial holders being more secure and faster at holding a tube, in code blue situations. But hey I know those suits wont go anywhere as long as covid patients pile up or unless people want health system to collapese even faster. Commercial holders are indeed better and easier to reeplace and its not like tape wont dig into our covid patients either so godspeeds to all of you therapist out there dealing with BS politics.

Exactly how much should you pull everytime? Like how many inches?
@FlatlandAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Length of your arm is what I use to pull the tape out. From hand to shoulder is just a quick reference point.

I'm surprised the adhesive was still effective after all those times it was touched by fingers. With my luck is would get fluids on it or got twisted...all the time being yelled at by various doctors to hurry up.Not something I need to worry about being an OFA 3. Presumably the patient was unconscious while this procedure was taking place. lol.
@GeorgeORRT4 жыл бұрын
Yup, it was. There are tube holders that we also use instead of tape. No mess or fuss, but are more expensive to use.

I'll go thru your vids and see what is relevant to my job to remind me. Mostly I'm dealing with minor issues, hammered thumbs, insulation in the eye...redressing wounds....I live for an amputation.If I find something better that does the job even if it's more expensive, I get it. Some FA kits on the jobsites are pillaged so I know where my stuff is for the various situations, bad bleeds, bandaging, burns, eye, airway. Each dept has its own zzzzipered bag and each bag has its own gloves so to save hunting somewhere else.Have you seen Zipline medical for their surface mount stitches?? Better than sutures. I had remnants of 4 stitches left in my wrist at the South Calgary Hospital. Bilateral wrist fractures, volnar plates....lots of fun.

Starting at about the 4min and 45second mark, and again near the 5min and 15 second mark, the camera angle is too low and the viewer can't see your technique as you tape. It's still clear what you are doing as it is narrated well.

Sounds good. Thanks for your comment. Will make another one soon...time permitting
