My being the fnaf nerd will give some lore, William killed the kids in the 1983 restaurant, Fredbears Family Diner to get something called remnant which is basically a part of a soul, he then injected himself with it which literally made him immortal, they he returned to the 1987 restaurant or fnaf 2 to get more remnant to inject it into the funtime animatronics to make them basically possessed, but to also make them listen to him, well William died in the spring bonnie springlock animatronic but lived, he then went on to the fnaf 3 location decades after and escaped after the place burnt down, HE THEN went on again to finish his works on the funtime animatronics and changed his suit to the one we see in ffps, he kinda dies then, cassidy sends him to ucn, he escaped, but only because his dna was on a circuit board, that created Glitchtrap, he then went on to posses a beta tester named Vanessa for a fnaf vr game (Fnaf Help Wanted) Vanessa, now named Vanny, listens to everything Glitchtrap tells her to do and gets a job a the Freddy Fazbears Mega Pizzaplex, she hacks the systems and the animatronics except Freddy who is assumed to be possessed by Michael Afton, Glitchtrap who has taken on a new form aka BurnTrap, burns again and is most likely not dead because he is still immortal from the remnant he injected himself with back in 1983.
