Use smaller cameras with invisible IR Lights and blend them in with paint on the house and don't paint the lens or the IR Lights you need patience before doing this or it won't come out right!! I use a tiny unnoticeable vehicle back-up camera and it works just as good in day or night!!!! Inside the window no IR Lights are needed if your outside lights are super bright enough!! NO NEED TO SPEND over $500 or thousands of dollars to catch thieves these days!!!! It's easy and simple!!!! Ip setup will still work!!

Hey Gary! You are a fantastic teacher. this is my best video as a technician. Plz I install newer camera that are 1080p with it DVR that came with cameras from the box. but the older cameras with 720 displays colored footages while the newer camera with 1080 are in black and white. plz how do I make them all to be colored?
@Templemain
@Templemain 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure I've ever experienced this before. Are you saying the new 1080p cameras came with a NEW DVR but show only B/W. Yet older 720 cameras show color on the that new DVR. Or are you saying the DVR your using came with the 720 cameras & you are plugging the NEW 1080p into it but there is no color. Simply put there are only two things that cause cameras to not show color. They are the camera is in a darkened area and has switched to night vision. The second is the newer 1080p cameras have a higher definition & often use different software so are not suitable, not fully compatible for an older DVR. Hope this helps.

When yo open the case, there is a small "coin shaped" battery on the circuit board. What is its function?
@Templemain
@Templemain 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, The small con shaped battery is back up time date and system preferences. When you set the date & time or the system details this little battery keeps it even if the case is disconnected from mains power. Another important thing it does is maintain your password in memory. So it's possible to get control of your system if you have forgotten your password. Simply remove the button battery, with the power disconnected of course and short the two button battery terminals with a paper clip of similar. All system preferences, date & time will be lost but so will your password. When you insert the button battery & power up the DVR will be as if new from the factory and you can start afresh.

Hello Ephraim, Usually when a video camera CLICKS just watch it on you monitor. If if keeps changing from color to B&W then it means the light in the camera area is just on the edge. That is the camera day/night sensor can not make up it's mind and is switching between day & night setting continuously. Just take a torch and shine toward the camera. If the CLICKING stops it proves the camera is in a 'can't decide if it's day or night' situation. Just reposition the camera to another position until there is no clicking.

both really. By plugging a monitor into the 15way D plug (or if your DVR has one the HDMI) By plugging into a USB port you can sent the video to either to your computer & from there WIFI or plug into modem-router for WIFI.

why would an installer use a switch between the cable and the DVR? My system does not plug cat5 cables directly to DVR and I do not understand why?
@Templemain
@Templemain 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm not sure just why but your DVR & system might not be a simple old analog system like the one shown in the video. Most new systems installed today are IP or WiFi etc and are basically digital systems. I made this video for users who were looking for a camera system but not really technically gifted or like me needing to install a camera system deep under ground (car park) where there is no possibility of WiFi systems & certainly NOT at the price these simple analog systems cost ($160) without HDD.

@@Templemain Thank you Gary. I understand why now, thank you for your response. The switch is there as I have some long wire runs. I believe my problem could be that there was a router change and lost the camera feeds that way.

Like if I need to look back 3 days at 2 pm how can I do that from a tv? Also if I switch off from the hdmi input to watch a movie on said tv then does the screen stop recording since I switched it and am now using it to watch a movie?
@Templemain
@Templemain 2 жыл бұрын
First of all Do you have a Hard Drive in your video recorder, because that's where all the videos are recorded. With out a hard drive installed all you are doing is watching a live camera feed. Of course you need a mouse attached to one of USB slots in back of the recorder. If you have a hard drove that's been recording then you need to do is right click the mouse to get the menu page then select PLAYBACK. Then you can get the playback screen which shows which camera calendar and time line at bottom of screen. Please view the VIDEO again taking care to observe PLAY BACK at 2:30. Your system might show things slightly different but the operation is basically the same for all wired camera systems.

Max Armstrong hello, I'm sorry but I don't see your message on my video only on my gmail. But your problem seems very strange. I would first disconnect every thing except the mouse & of course the monitor. Disconnect the Hard Drive, all the cameras so that all remains is just the MAIN DVR board the power to it, monitor & the mouse. Then boot again. If the problem remains it could be your power supply. If you have two, one for the cameras & one for the DVR try swapping them. If the problem still persists the DVR board looks like it might be the problem. If you get to the point you are asked for a password just disregard & leave blank. There is not much you can for the DVR main board I'm afraid except return it to the supplier for replacement. But should the DVR now work fine replace parts one by one. Please consider that the Hard Drive if bought brand new could be BLANK that is no format of any kind. The DVR will not see it and remain blank.

Thanks for the detailed video, Gary. Let me have a question (and sorry for my poor knowledge in electricity) regarding the camera power supply: In case of using 4-way splitter, shall I increase the capacity of adapter? Now I use 4 pcs 12V 1000mA (one per camera), but I would save some space with the splitter. Would one of these adaptors be enough to feed all the 4 cameras via splitter? Thx in advance

Great Video but how do you run all these wires to the dvr if you want one in front and back of house, garage and upstairs? Do I have to fish the wires through my walls? Multiple DVRs perhaps?
@Templemain
@Templemain 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Pen. Often the wiring is not long enough to reach where you need a camera but you can order much longer wiring on line. Just do a quick measurement of your needs and order. My self I cheat and join two medium lengths together (sort of stealing from Peter to pay Paul) but unless you are handy with soldering iron and splicing wiring don't try) As for hiding the wiring easy is the best. Rather than trying to go though the walls just tack wiring with super glue wiring to the top of the cornicing or similar. Once done a coat of paint to hide the wiring will make it invisible, same goes for skirting boards. Much of my wiring in my place and I have 12 cameras feeding two DVRs in separate locations you would never see yet it's in plain site. In my garage, it's all plain concrete so I ran the wiring across the ceiling of the garage simply glued every meter with a spot of construction glue then covered over with concrete colored 3M tape to keep it in place. SURE you could see it if you got into the garage, turned the lights etc, but by then you have been spotted by at least three well hidden cameras & hidden DVR....WAY TO LATE! My camera systems have been simple and easy installed around our underground garage. Already two A- holes have been convicted and sent to prison for a couple of years. Two cameras were installed one the my mates garage but a 2nd out side the garage swing lifting gate very well hidden. The thieves use hoodies and face masks to force open a corner of the swing gate enough for one to slide in. He immediately covered the obvious camera in the garage then open the garage so he and his mate could steal EVERY THING. Their mistake was to take off the masks & hoodies and load their stolen car with every thing. But the hidden camera SAW every thing including the rego number & model of the car they used & perfect images of their faces CLOSE UP. In court they claimed innocence until the prosecutor showed the video I had constructed from the hidden camera video files. Plus it helped many other unfortunates. When police search their home it was a ware house of stolen property. A word to the wise out there. Keep receipts (or at least scan them to a computer drive) and photo every thing valuable in your home with serial numbers. Should a thief strike a condemning video is handy but hard to get your stolen stuff back from the thieves den unless you can prove it's YOURS.

Most of my wiring I just placed at the bottom of my cornicing with a dab of super glue every 10cm or so around the room. Then I painted the wire the color of the cornicing and the wire becomes invisible to all unless pointed out. Saves you a heap of time & if you are renting or planing to sell at a later date it is easy to remove with just a firm tug

@@tommybhoy1 Hi Tom, The most likely cause of no boot is the power pack. If you have two small power packs one for cameras, the other for the DVR just swap them to see what happens. If you only have a single power pack Just go to EBAY & search for "12v /3/5/6/10A DC Adapter Powers Supply converter charger for LED strip AU". I always order a 10A but 6A is more than enough. I just like to have a slab power pack idling along with minimum load for a longer life span. They are about $25. The next most likely is the Hard Drive fail. Simply open the lid disconnect the two connectors attached to Hard Drive & try booting again. Still no boot, it's 90% your power pack, just buy one. If still it fails to boot then it's the main board inside the DVR and there is not much you can do about that except throw it in the bin, buy a new one for about $70, just make sure it's the SAME brand as the old one. Different companies use different VIDEO protocols and might NOT support your cameras. What system are you using? Are you any where close to Guildford, Sydney regards Gary

there is no password on them as far as I know, but also some have 'user' as user & 'password' as password. Worse comes to it. disconnect the power, open the lid, remove the button battery that holds the settings data then short the + & - terminal of the button battery contacts with a paper clip or some thing for ten minutes. Resemble battery & try then, you should be at factory settings.

POE, is always an option too, Power Over Eithernet, THEN you ONLY need one cable. I MIGHT think about going with an SSD, FOR SPEED, IF you think its to much/an added expense, your not willing to endure, AT LEAST make sure, your hardrive is 7200RPM vs 5400RPM. Also I put wood down EVERYWHERE in my attic, so I can walk everywhere in it. SOME people have recommended ONLY 3 cameras lol, I guess I may have gone WAY over board lol, 3 lol. I watch the road/my drive way, ALL of my fence/gates, all my doors and so on, baisicly I surveillance, ALL of my property, so I have certain cameras that watch certain sections/alert me/notify me. Meaning I have two cameras, in each place, I put cameras. Meaning ONES designed to pick up motion AND the other is designed to continuously record. I have 15 outdoor security cameras, that I use, to view, Most of the time, BUT I have a total of 30 cameras, that are outside, meaning 15 of them are for continuous recording and 15 are for me to see whats going on, without having to go outside/be there,from my phone or a tablet. I don't use night vision, because ONE I don't have to, and TWO, because I don't like it/I prefer 4k/3840x2160p, color vs black and white, SO each place a camera is/in good areas, I have BRIGHT motion lights, SO I never use night vision. I also have a motion sensor, in my mailbox, that when, triggered, it says inside, mail has been delivered, plus I have motion lights/lights that can be turned on and off AND that are triggered by motion, and ALL of my out door lights are really really bright. I also use door armor, its a product, that includes everything you need to protect your doors, I also put these clear plastic sticker type things, on my windows, surprisingly they protect your windows, and they can with stand MULTIPLE/A LOT of hammer/crowbar/pry bar/baseball bat hits, its kind of crazy how durable it makes your windows, I also have door sensors and window sensors. When a window opens, it says on speakers, certain window open/closed. Same with doors, basement door open,garage door open, front door open, back door open, patio door open, certain balcony door open, shed door/window open, bedroom door open, for bedroom, I only have certain speakers sound out, my office/theater room/gaming room, and I get notifications on my phone for ALL of these as well. The open/close notifications/sounds, have a one minute delay, meaning, if you open and close the door a few times in a row, it wont say open close, open close and so on, after a minute has past, it will say open or close again. I also have video door bells, at every door, when they detect motion, speakers inside say, motion at garage, motion on porch, motion at front door, motion at back door, I also have a motion sensor, at the end of my drive way, and when it detects motion, it says, motion at the end of the driveway, also if someone rings the door bell, speakers say, someone's ringing, a certain door bell. All of my lights,fans,garage doors,doors,gates,sprinkler system/lawnmowers and vacuums and so on, are able to be closed/locked/turned on/off, from where ever I'm at, MOST things are on schedules though, meaning my vacuums/lawnmowers/sprinkler system, are ALL on schedules, I can also Manually open my garage doors, for my lawnmowers as well, if im not home, my lights have motion sensors, that either come on or give you dim lighting, depending on the time of day/night. Also I can view on a camera, to see if a doors open, ALSO my phone shows if the lights on or off or the doors open or closed, also sensitive items, I can either view, or look to see if its on or off, sensitive as in, fridge,freezers,curling iron,iron, you get the idea, ALSO lights come on and turn off at certain times,they are also voice controlled/EVERYTHING IS. My vehicles go in my garage, and I don't have windows on my garage doors/all my windows have blinds AND dark out curtains, each window/access point, has a camera over it, as well. I also have vacation mode/I'm able to have outdoor lights come on and off, outdoor/patio/porch/balconies, tvs come on and off at times/music, that are in outdoor areas. Also I don't post on social media, SO thats not a security risk for me, but I DEFINITELY DON'T, post when I'm going out of town on FB/where ever lol. Anyway I feel like security cameras/systems are NEEDED. Lol I don't know about three cameras though lol. For SOME people I guess thats FINE, but EACH of my cameras has a section/area its responsible for AND one of the cameras picks up motion AND the other continuously records, yeah I could just see my whole front/back/sides, with 4 cameras, BUT that wont even include door cameras lol, 3, just wouldn't cut it, MAYBE 6, 7 or 8 cameras, 4 for each side of your house, front back and both sides, then you NEED one for your, front door and back door, so if you have two entry doors, 6 would WORK, if you have a basement door, 7, is needed, ALSO the garage, so thats 8, BUT thats not efficient, ESPECIALLY IF multiple events are happening/it cant pick up everything, plus, the motion cameras have delays, anyway, its just not ideal, BUT it WILL WORK,JUST NOT EFFICIENTLY AND this is why I have 15/30, 15 that I view AND 15 that continuously take video AND this is JUST OUTSIDE. That doesn't include cameras that are in my shed,in my garage,at my safe,for my dog,on my balconies, at door entrances, ANYWAY FOR SOME PEOPLE, THIS MAY WORK, BUT,ITS NOT IDEAL.

At about 9 minutes, you energized the system and suddenly you are viewing input from four different cameras. But I didn't see where you connected the monitor. Is it your computer it tv or something else where you are seeing the video? And how did you connect for viewing?

Hello Jack, on the video at 7:03 you will see on the top right of the DVR a 15 pin D socket marked VGA. That is your video output to a basic computer monitor or TV. There is also an HD -OUT if you prefer to use that which would give you a better picture on a monitor that supports High Definition. In the video at 1:22 the cable for a 15pin D plug is shown. This is not part of the security camera kit but they are cheaply available at any computer or electronics shop. If you don't have a video monitor you can use an old TV.
