They last made them in 70s, and may be used if needed? From memory is made from nitroglycerin, and tnt will sweat nitro with time and become extremely unstable, so these would be more of a hazzard to users than foes. Beat to remanuafactor these with PE charge for safety and longevity at a guess!

Hi, thank you so much for this helpful video. I do 3D animations of firearms, and am building a 3D model of an M16 landmine. I'm currently modeling the inside of the M605 fuse, particularly the Trigger Pin and Release Pin. However, I haven't found any good references to how these actually look, beside the cutaway images online. Wondering if you happen to have anything that may help?

Try FM 20-32 Mine and Countermine Warfare. But it will still be just drawings.

You know why they made the 3 fuse series different,, money!! The maker can charge the Government more because now they need new machinery to make them etc .. great video

I don’t remember if you discuss this, but what causes it to bounce? Is there a secondary explosion that causes the mine to jump up and then explode?
@SecurityGuy422 жыл бұрын
Small propelling charge if I remember correctly.

@@SecurityGuy42 the German version used black powder or smokeless depending on when they were made.

i wonder if 50 year old+ mines can be relied on to detonate when they should and not when they shouldn't.

No they are unstable as time goes on, you can't trust it will do either. Best to blow in place, don't bother defusing chances are you'll lose

You get duds sometimes. Have seen one bound up when tripped but not detonate main charge. Brings a quick halt to demo range shoot.

US M16 ist eine Nachbau der S Mine 35

Of course... only the US government would make 2 or more fuses that are not cross compatible, and give them the exact same name/ designation 🤦♂️... Also, the activation pressures seem really low... My logic is, as a combat engineer, I wouldn't want these to go off the first time a raccoon or coyote or some other animal comes through if I'm targeting enemy combatants... it would be nice if AP mines were "deer proof" so that anything deer size or smaller couldn't set them off, though I feel like that would be difficult while still having enemy combatants reliably activate them.

And name the mine exactly the same same as the rifles they're using: M16-A1, M16-A2. Edit: Well the mines would have been named first considering it was back in WWII and we obviously didn't have the M16 yet but still.

Any mine that's deer proof would be Human proof if it's based off a conventional tripping mechanisms
