Frankly they even needed work to maintain a healthy friendship. They felt more like bully and bullied too much even as friends that a relationship before actually fixing that was never a good step. *Spoilers for the revival* This is one of the reasons I actually like how Carly and Freddie are done in the revival. Freddie actually points out how their friendship is a bit unhealthy and they need to fix themselves and actually find a way to make themselves work as friends (even addressing how they can never go back to how they were as kids where he followed her like a puppy and she took him for granted) before the idea of getting into a relationship came.

Apparently that’s due to abandonment trauma from her mother, so she has a fear of commitment. Which is an interesting added layer to her character imo!

They are so incompatible it’s insane! They have great chemistry but the type of spark that will burn intensely & fizzle out quickly. Also, why does Freddie always have to be the one suffering the most? Sam mocked & destroyed his hobby, then tried to use him to smuggle illegal goods. And this is while they are dating. This arc was definitely a way for the writers to say, ‘look, we know you all ship them intensely but these two characters are just not compatible’ They were teenagers with hormones & first relationships are important for growth, but they really were trying to fit their prickly dynamic into a relationship shaped hole. It just wasn’t going to last.

I don't even like calling this a Seddie Arc because it actually makes Seddie worst then the previous episodes. Freddie and Sam fight more then they have ever did and they make Carly miserable for two episodes as well. I actually liked both ships before this arc, and ended up completely disliking both when the arc ended.

IKR, i feel like the producers ruined Seddie on purpose btw, in a stupid way. Seddie was just too popular among the fans (more than Creddie at the time) and i feel like the original plan was to make Creddie a couple in the end, they had to adapt and i feel it was like "ok, let's give them this as quick as possible and then go back to our normal schedule" 🥲🤌🏻

@@lacthocia Actually if you looked at the creator's blog at that time, he disliked the shipping of his characters in general (which personally to me never made sense considering the series literally had so much shipbait). So the plan was for neither according to him, and he didn't want Romance to be a focus for the show at all. That was actually supposed to be what iStart a FanWar was supposed to be a message to the viewers to not be too attached to either ship. This might be why this came out so terribly. A theory is that because ships were so popular, the network might have forced the show runners to make it canon, and since the Show runners weren't that willing to do this, they just half-assed the writing.

@@anishparajuli5218 I think Creddie was always supposed to be a thing, but as you say romance was never supposed to be the point of the show, so for the most part Creddie is subtle and in the background. From everything I have read or heard Seddie happened only because Dan hoped that it would shut up that portion of the fanbase who at the time were much more annoying and obnoxious (still are to be honest) than Creddie fans. He was sick of their constant whining, unfortunately putting more focus on Seddie didn't satisfy those fans. I don't blame them for not caring about it, it was always totally ridiculous anyway.

I genuinely feel he was starting to completely lose his writing chops midway through ICarly considering that is when almost all his shows started becoming not that entertaining. I personally do think neither was going to be canon and what we got in the finale with the kiss might have been the most that was planned in terms of resolving the romance plot

I know a lot of people like to talk about how Carly unfairly dumped Griffin (Personally I think considering how Carly's reasons for Dating Griffin were shallow to begin with it ending for an equally shallow reason actually feels like a lesson to say relationship based on shallow reasons rarely last) but a behind the scenes fact kinda makes me glad that the relationship didn't last more then one episode. Finding out that Andrew Roy (The actor of Griffin) was 22 when that episode was filmed and Miranda Cosgrove was 15 and the episode featured them constantly making out, I kinda end up actively being a bit disgusted with that pairing now.

Another amazing reaction. While it was sad that Sam and Freddie broke up, I do admire that they were mature about it. I just don’t see how they would have worked out in the long run even as adults? They are just fundamentally different people, who value different things in a relationship. Freddie’s main goal is to get married, have kids, do the whole white picket fence thing, which sounds like Sam’s version of hell lol. She’s at her core, a free spirit, so having to conform to that box would be utterly unfulfilling. I could see them trying again at some stage as adults but, their ideal of happiness is just too divergent to sustain a relationship long term imo

She was sooooo TOXIC and I can't get how they made Freddie act so dumb about it as if he didn't know this was how she always was, it's her nature (and she needs to get with someone like her whom she could beat and would beat her too in the 'name of love' or whatever but NOT Freddie). And he took all of her continuous abuse and became so inconsiderate to people around them, including Carly. It made no sense whatsoever. Thank goodness that pairing is done with and should never repeat again. Nathan Kress admits he'd never wish such on his character Freddie ever again.

I will forever hate Seddie, and it's not because I blindly ship Creddie. I just hate the message that it sends to kids watching the show. Sam maliciously humiliated and abused Freddie for years, both physically and mentally, she lowkey screwed over Carly too, by manipulating Freddie to break up with her. From Carly's perspective having the guy who has been in love with you since the day you met, break up with you, would mess with your head. She understands his reasoning but she is still hurt and confused because she clearly had feelings for him. They don't actually say it but I think the reason she doesn't act on those feelings again is because Freddie rejected them, and told her they were not real. I've often wondered why Sam did that and I think it's because she knew that if Carly and Freddie kept dating she would be left behind. I speed date which is technically before I saved your life shows that fear. Even as Friends Carly and Freddie enjoy being alone together and they seem to have a natural intimacy and overall affection that is usually the foundation for friendship that becomes something more. I think Sam knew that and sabotaged them as a result. Truthfully, Carly and Freddie's dating would have been disastrous for her because she would be a total third wheel and the show makes this clear many moments over the course of the first two seasons before we ever even get to the two episodes I mentioned. Sure such moments are not romantic per se but romance is an overrated aspect of love. You need trust, and respect which I don't think Sam and Freddie ever had, thankfully they recognized that they shouldn't be romantically involved which shows in a very sweet way that they actually have become friends.

@@truthseeker9249 that's the semi-misassumption...Nathan Kress had an interview in 2015 and revealed that Carly was always meant to end up with Freddie(this was years before Sam's actress dropped out of acting) implying that with or without Sam in the revival, Freddie and Carly had always belonged with Carly. Unpopular opinion: this relationship should’ve ended when Freddie found out it was Sam’s fault he didn’t get into that camp. Like Freddie said, that camp would get him into any college he wanted. If Sam really cared about Freddie, then she should do everything she can to fix her mistake, like call the camp director and tell them it was a prank she did on Freddie and to give him another chance. I mean that’s what I would’ve made Sam do if I was Carly, but no she just has to shut him down with a “oh who cares?” after he said “she ruined my cha-“. Yeah Carly is a really bad friend here. She said she was being a bad friend by breaking them up, when really a good friend would not stand by and watch her friend’s life be ruined by someone else, even if that someone else is also her friend.

They did. That just wasn't supposed to be the centre of the show and definitely not with this pair(Sam&Freddie) but they did these episodes to show the overwhelming clamouring fans that demanded for it just how wrong it was. The original iCarly did end on the note that Carly and Freddie were always going to be the OTP.

There's no need for it either. That pairing was quite baseless and toxic and Freddie went back to crushing on and being in love with Carly as well. Freddie himself acknowledgeably closed the chapter on it with Sam on this episode in that scene already.

When I was a kid and saw this. The Seddie break up. Made me actually cry a bit. But now seeing it again. I can see the problem. Freddie and Sam are teenagers which is still kids. They were too young and immature to commit to a relationship. It probably would've worked out better when they both got a bit older and mature.

Possibly, but even as adults I can’t see it. The Freddie we have in the revival is Mr ‘settle down & start a family’ guy, and Sam is a through and through free spirit. Their life goals are too divergent for a long term thing. I can see them just making each other frustrated, building resentment & ultimately holding each other back from their true wants/desires.

False, don't butter it up, the problem is not in them 'committing to a relationship', it's in the fact the relationship shouldn't have been in the first place. Sam and Freddie were just too different, they would never work and they literally admitted it. On top of that Sam was too toxic for Freddie in many glaring ways, he should never have to settle for such!!
