Sedge Grass (Carex) is a member of the Cyperaceae family. It has fine variegated textured leaves, and likes moist rather than dry conditions. It tolerates neglect so is an easy addition to the garden. If it gets some sun the colours will be brighter. Grows up to 40cm in height, has dramatic form and blends naturally with other plants in the garden.

Hi Jane, they are still going strong, I have divided them and now they are a nice big group. I like them because they’re evergreen for me and I don’t have to do anything to them at all. Happy Friday 🥰

I have the two different types of sedges in my yard for the short we said and the tall type where you can eat the tubers... but I'd also like to learn how to prepare or ingest the small leaf variety... I'm guessing make a tea out of it? maybe blanchett and put it in a lasagna or salad or some kind of pasta dish? sweet video 👍 and if you ever need jack-in-the-pulpit or American persimmon seeds I've got you covered...😉👊... I must add the American persimmon is by far my favorite fruit. candy made by mother nature that you have to wait for fall to eat because of the astringency but the wait is always worth it... gardening teaches us a lot about life and patience.

Hello there!! Well you have certainly taught me something today! I didn’t know you could eat them? Or make tea out of them? I must be leading a sheltered life 😆😆 thank you for enlightening me and I hope you’re having a really great day ♥️

@@TheEnthusiasticGardener so glad that you find my comment informative... I have a decent chunk of land here in Southern Maryland and grow many exotic plants... like my KZbin profile picture for example is the Indian ghost pipe I grow here as well... but anyway I hope your week is going well and your garden is probably beautiful I'm sure....👍

How wonderful, I’m not sure exotic plants would thrive over here as I’m guessing you need a greenhouse for during the winter, but so great chatting with you all the way from Maryland ♥️

Hi Graham, yes that is Lotte, she is my gardening companion, she always comes out to watch 😁 my other dog Lucy is lazier and usually asleep inside. They are sisters from same litter and nearly 8 now. Very cute 😁 that video is actually about 10 days old and the carex are still alive 🤪
