Excellent and easy to understand. I've been studying geology as a hobby (I have a degree in biochemistry) ever since I saw the History channel's "How The Earth Was Made," amongst dozens of other videos. I've found hundreds of KZbin videos like this one that show a small aspect of geology, and it's made me into a geologist. Also, I'm a regular hiker, hiking the San Andreas fault, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, among dozens of other locations. But knowing about geology has been priceless to me. I'm actually going to be posting a video soon, which has concrete evidence from Crystal Cove state park (where I live) that establishes the sea level during the pliocene epoch, which is allegedly where global warming will take it. Basically a cliff side is falling, and has thousands of sea shells in the falling cliff.

I get all this, but can someone answer this for me, if the layers form exclusively in the low places, down in the water... Why are the high areas made out of sedimentary rock, with fossils from every era? And why is every detail discussed in such detail, except how it gets in those high areas?
