It's sad, because it's clear they loved one another but sometimes love isn't enough and sometimes two people can be toxic for another regardless of how much they love eachother. I think they're both better off at the moment. She's not as sad or distant or stressed seeming, and he's been doing a lot of soul searching (according to him) and seems in a better place after the wake up call of losing his marriage and family life the way it was.
