So in that circumstance, the mom has a duty to perform, just like any mother would do. But do you see her in all/every activities in the white house throughout the 8yrs. She's always low key, you hardly noticed her until or unless Obama acknowledges her - then she just smiled. Unlike Naomi's mother, always ahead of every events with her not so age appropriate dressing. Also, since Tadenikawo's birth, she didn't stay back to take care of her grandson.
