See it: Concorde jet lifted off Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

The jet will be floated by barge to the Brooklyn Navy Yard for months of restoration. Chopper 2 was over the scene as the complicated removal operation took place.

IMO, Concorde tops the list of the most beautiful airliners ever built. A few others (in no particular order): 747, 707, Constellation.

If passengers in flight observing their personal 'circular viewing boundary' were to discover the horizon was logically and physically horizontal, then the gig would have been up. It's an unfortunate circumstance, it flew well...too well.

I hope the concord restoration is better than the work they did on the AH-1 Cobra on display. I was a cobra crew chief for six years and I felt like crying when I saw the one they so proudly display.
