RRTS train hits top speed of 160 kmph in trials.This is India's first high-speed rapid rail transit system. The pre-trial runs were held on the 17km Sahibabad-Duhai section. The full 82km Delhi-Meerut corridor is likely to open by March 2025

For those who are gonna compare RRTS Vs Vande Bharat. Rrts is like a big bro of metro for inter city transport & rrts got it's dedicated semi high speed track for it to run on its full capability from day 1 . Vande Bharat has the capability to go 180 but track is the limiting factor & VB is for interstate.

For those comparing it with Vande Bharat, RRTS, as suggested by the name is for short distance regional intercity travel having lower carrying capacity as made on standard guage (1435 mm/ 4 feet 8.5 inch). Vande Bharat is restricted because of the tracks. Otherwise it can carry higher number of passengers on (5 feet 6 inch) broad guage tracks with similar speeds if tracks support. However, on design part, I definitely feel the trainsets by Alstom are well suited (aerodynamically) as influenced by french HSR. On the other hand, Vande Bharat was developed from prototype by ICF (Train 18). I hope they can change it in 3.0 version to attain 220kmph speed.

BJP government has reduced India's External Debt to GDP from 24%(2014) to 20%(2021). Central Government debt was 52.2% of GDP in FY 2013-14 and bjp has reduced it to 51.8% of GDP(FY 19-20) but then the pandemic struck and it went up by 10% in a year but still, the government has been able to reduce it to(last data I have is of sep22 when it was 54.9%).

RRTS runs on elevated tracks and Viaducts and it's completely different from normal trains. Vande Bharat runs on the old tracks and different types of grounds. It's not possible to get that speed if tracks are not upgraded in whole of India.

Not gonna sound weird but I think southern cities like Bangalore and Chennai also needs these stuff. And building these track connecting multiple tourist attractions in Rajasthan is also needed. With normal trains it takes too long to travel from Jaipur to Jodhpur and other cities. I live in Delhi and done my masters in south. I can’t imagine my life without Delhi metro. Compared to Delhi metro which literally connects entire Delhi, Bangalore metro is too small and road transport takes too long there. I hope in future other cities will also get these trains.

Why should India settle only for low hanging fruits? 160kmph has already been achieved by Gatimaan and Vande Bharat. So no new benchmark has been established. ..

@@kailashchatterjee4350 the project is just a show off it's not feasible at any level since 2002, due to which they also reduced the speed for cost cutting.And here we are talking in terms of station at every 5km and the time maglev takes to reach halfway it's top speed rapid rail has to stop for it's station. It's just a fast hypercar which is good as an engineering Marvel but has very little social benifit.

i know we have allready some train which speed 200kmph plus train like vande bharat train ,. and tejus train and now these is RRTS train and now we mumbai -ahmdabad bullet train but some root we have to upgrade for minimum upgrade to 250kmph

I mean delhi is capital 🤦. Delhi is largest city in india by population. A lot of people travel daily from nearby city to delhi for work. So that's why first 4 rrts track will be around Delhi all other will city will be after 2025/26
