Four leaders presented their formal resignation from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), including two members of the Central Committee. The resigners are former mayor Israel Aquino, from Comendador, Elías Piña province, and the professor and former councilwoman from Monte Cristo Josefa Reyes, members of the Central Committee; as well as the councilman from Moca Miguel A. Zapata and Narciso Fermín Díaz, electoral manager in Moca.
In his communication, former mayor Aquino thanks the president of the PLD, Danilo Medina, for the good treatment received and values the contributions made to the country by the party in its 20 years of government.
For their part, Professor Josefa Reyes, Moca councilman Miguel A. Zapata and Narciso Fermín Díaz, electoral manager of the PLD in Moca, both presidents of Intermediate Committees, recognized the country's progress under PLD governments, but rejected the way Carlos Amarante Baret was treated, whom they defined as "one of the most supportive leaders with his fellow party members."
They all abandoned their status as members of the PLD along with dozens of presidents of grassroots committees of the purple organization.
