See the candles glow o’er the dark, starlit sky.
Feel the winds that blow as each day passes by.
On this very night we recall, oh, so well
the Maccabean fight and those brave men who fell.
It is said by some that a miracle came
to Judah’s kingdom which added to his fame.
There was little oil to keep the Menorah bright
but God’s spirit shined eight days it still gave light.
History has shown that we survived those years
even as death came despite so many tears.
What a miracle to glow from then to now.
God has deemed that we will endure fine somehow.
Now that darkness comes and people live in fear,
Candles kindle hope to melt their every tear.
Just like yesterday when life seemed sad and doomed,
Candles burn and glow to brighten every room.
We recall those times when darkness came and rain poured down.
Let our hope remain to, once again,
have tyrants frown.
Soon the sun will shine and birds will sing a vibrant song.
Lights will glow and folks you know
will righten every wrong.
Every time we face a painful trial that brings us tears,
Let us all remember how we overcame those fears.
If it takes some days or months to ease our worried.
minds, just recall when hope was small, then
grew like fruitful vines.
See the candles glow to brighten anxious days
Just like years ago when Israel was ablaze.
Keep a watchful eye on each and every light
that can fill the sky and take away our fright.
Sing and dance for joy for everyone is blessed
to want fears destroyed, then have much happiness.
Don’t abandon hope despite the fearful news.
Let hope vanquish fear and walk in Judah’s shoes.
