The luxury many civilians have enjoyed since birth will never make them understand Military training. Getting into Combat is not child's play. When you arrive at the Military training center, the weakness of a civilian life needs to be removed from you through drills - It's a global practice. However, every well-trained Soldier is a gentleman (Disciplined and well instructed) - you don't need to brutalize civilians to show strength; this is where many miss it!

Oloruntoba Faith Olugboye The purpose for your life's journey on this earth plane is not to fight wars. Rather, it is the use of your creative abilities in a positively constructive way for the good of your fellow human being regardless of race or nationality. The agony of violence that humankind has suffered through wars is a result of ignorance.

I was born in the now defunct NNS Akaso Barracks, Borokiri, PH. As a kid I witnessed firsthand what trainees go through and I can tell you it's nothing short of wickedness and humiliation of the human kind. Fast forward 15 years, I joined the British Army and the difference became glaring. The Nigerian military training system needs to be modernised to stop all forms of dehumanisation because you don't expect someone trained this way to protect the rights of civilians. I strongly believe that the training regime of soldiers contributes to some of the security challenges we face today.

Nobody was born a personnel,I believe soldiers were all civilians before becoming personnels...seen some comments where some try to justify the use of force on civilians. Well in the following cases,I think the use of force is understandable;secession, insurgency, war, when your life or that of innocent civilians is being threatened etc, but you don’t use force on a civilian for over taking, you don’t use force on a civilian for correcting you,you don’t use force on a civilian for asking you to join the line in a atm que,you don’t use force on civilians for exercising their fundamental human right, you don’t use force on civilians for being a civilian.Civilians appreciate your effort in keeping the peace in the country but nobody asked you to join the military,a civilian is not responsible for that action.you decided to join the military because you want to fend for yourself and family or because you simply like the nature of the job.In the course of carrying out your duties, you protect civilians and i think they highly appreciate you for that ,but what personnels do that is wrong is that after joining the army they begin to have this sense of entitlement that everyone should bow to them.Remember it is your decision to join the Army,no civilian begged or pleaded with you to enlist and if you get tired of the job,no civilian will beg you to stay.civilians can and will always encourage you to carry out your duties effectively in respect to the constitution,so please remove that reasoning of being higher citizens in your heads and understand that every citizen has an important role to play in the betterment of the country e.g the education sector, the economic sector, medical sector, the labourers etc.Your role as a personnel is highly recognised and respected so please respect and recognise the civilian’s role as well.To every personnel reading,Civilians should be proud of you and not fear you. May God help us to work together in peace and harmony for the rebirth of this great nation.God bless the federal republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬
