I'm gonna have to agree. I heard that makeup is just as important as costume design and acting. The way one's makeup is done really says a lot about a character.

The Lion King makeup is one of my favorites but I must say that I’m surprised they don’t do their own makeup! This is the first time I see someone else doing the actor’s makeup instead of having them do it on their own.

The Lion King is one of the few shows on Broadway that still has a makeup department. Unfortunately many makeup artists have been replaced in the industry with budget cuts and actors being asked to do their own makeup. But this Lion King makeup is very precise and it really takes a professional to get it just right. I am so grateful to Elizabeth and the makeup department for making us look amazing eight shows a week. Their talent is undeniable and so necessary.

i don't even own any makeup, why would i? Would Simba put his own makeup? If you put your own makeup, you must be paid and credited as MUA. My main "surprise" is that the MUA for Lion King is not Black, but i'm actually not surprised.
