A VOIR ABSOLUMENT 🙏✨️

Oh merci beaucoup! ❤️

We stayed for a night in Sept 2023 at the White Cross Hotel, in the square in front of the Abbey. There is also a 5* hotel, and a Michelin * restaurant next to the Abbey. The village is lovely, a few market stalls in the square, a beautiful old church, a laundry area which is fascinating. We also followed a footpath through the woods at the back of the Abbey. It is a great place to visit, and it followed a visit to Poitiers which has several buildings linked to Eleanor too.

The medieval hall in Poitiers and the Cathedral are both fascinating.

My great-grandmother's brother is buried at Fontevraud Abbey, because he died as a prisoner there sometime in the 1940s. I think maybe the Nazis controlled it. I'd like to go and find out more.

@SamDiMento oh gosh you definitely should go! It's one of the places we want to REvisit, but that family connection would be worth digging into! 💫
