The reference book for this is "Magnetism and its Effects on the Living System" by Albert Roy Davis and Walter C Rawls, (c) 1974. Two factors are important: 1) The polarity (North or South) makes a difference. 2) Accelerated growth is not necessarily beneficial.

The round magnet in pot A is acting as a moisture retainer/evaporation barrier and thermal conductor like any rock of that size and dark color would. The seed in pot B germinated faster than pot C because the red pot color absorbs more heat than the reflective white color of pot C. If the pots are labeled A, B, and C, then there is no reason to use a different color for the control pot.

He needs to use N52 magnets to make a real difference. This isn't a new idea and scientists have already proven southern magnetic fields enhance growth and biological processes. Much more powerful magnets are required to see very noticeable effects. North side of magnetic fields retard/impede growth. Both have potential applications in medical and agricultural fields.

Needs to be done with more samples and identify the direction of polarities relative to the seed. Maybe Use a ziplock bag so the seeds don’t come in contact with the magnet ruling out any possible nutrient absorption. This experiment does work but needs to be done carefully. The variety of seed, magnetic field strength and the orientation of the seeds axis relative to magnetic field can influence the results.

First, all the pots should be the same color, as it can impact the temperature of the soil. A journal recording water measurements, temperature, and sunlight exposure duration would be helpful for other scientists that would like to replicate this experiment. To make this experiment more respectable you need to expand the number of samples. 30 of each A, B, And C would provide sufficient data to create a control chart and regression equations. Next, I would expand the variation on sunlight and water in future experiments. I give this two thumbs up.

The orange pots would be warmer in the window because the sunlight absorbs better. The large black magnet attracts and store a lot of excess heat, so the plant will grow better. Pumpkin and squash love heat and moisture. The large magnet would trap more moisture under itself. Conclusion: I am not convinced at all that the magnetism had anything to do with the faster growth

Pretty good! The first time I heard of this effect was in 1981 from a friend of mine. Then I heard about that a second time in 1982 from my Professor of Electricity and Magnetism. Then, later on, a classmate of mine, inspired by the Professor, did some experiments with that and confirmed this effect. I never read any paper about it but I presume that the ions in the plant that create an electric current are affected by the magnetic field in a benefic way: just like a charged particle in motion experiments a magnetic force. Now why this speed up the plant growth escapes my comprehension.

Pot A: that maget slimply working like moisture retainer/evaporation barrier and also the red color absorb more heat than the white which reflect light and heat. So the growth was best among 3. Pot B: It didnt have the evaporation barrier but had red color pot which help to absorb more heat. So its growth was moderate. Pot C: It dint have the evaporation barrier and it had white color pot which doesnt absorb heat as much as red pot. So the growth was worst of them all.

This is the first thing I thought while watching. I wonder how this would work thru the full grow cycle. With some indoor grows, plant food and nutrients are added and there are metallic elements within. Tho dissolved in the solution, how would a strong polarity effect that then the magnet is stuck there til the grow is done. If it can rust that could be an issue.

As a small scale commercial grower I start many of my plants from seed. I have observed that if I plant a tray of say 20 seedlings there is a natural variation between them. You would need to repeat the test simultaneouslying with a higher number of say, at least ten seedlings in each of the three groups to begin to insulate your results from such variations. Further, and for your information, the test would be best done with all batches of comparative groups started simultaneously as there is another naturally occurring variation, that of the lunar effect of seed germination. - (see 'Biodynamic Agriculture Introductory Lectures - Alex Podolinski: Vol. 1 & 2). Thank you for your efforts.

Hello. In Germany there is a good man with the youtube channel BaumMentor Baumpflege. He knows a lot about the history and the effects of elektrokultur. His tests showed that a neodymmagnet isn't so good. So he use ferrit ring magnets. He put a metallstring through the magnets. It works till 100 meters. Now he looks where the nortpole is, because you put the string in line of south north. The magnet is on the south and so you use the power of the magnetism which goes through the line from the south to nortpole. But before you put it in the earth, 5 to 30 cm, you have to put beewax on the magnet because of the protection of rust. And bee wax let the magnetism flow. Til 50 cm to string, left and right of it, you have the effects of this. If you want to use this in a pot, you have to ground the string. Better for pots are the copper ring. Use a copper ring. The end of the copper have to overlay a little bit. And the open ring must lay to the north pole. At the back the ring has to be a little bit higher than the open overlaying end. You use sticks to hold the copper ring in the pot.

3:28 Minerals... It's because of the effect of magnet on the minerals, the minerals can be ferro magnetic (magnetic force attracting iron), para magnetic (slightly attracted to magnets) and dia magnetic (slightly repelled by magnets). Now the minerals are carried to upwards to all the parts of the plant especially to those places where young cells are present in high density, it does it by the help of capillary force through the Xylem and Phloem, what a perfectly oriented magnetic field does is that it adds a magnetic component of force to the already present capillary force from the roots in the soil and going upwards to all the parts of the shoot system, the only downside is that minerals which are dia magnetic will get pushed backwards thus capillary force will struggle to move them upwards through the ducts, thus it may result in a plant slightly lacking some minerals, but still it should grow more because most of the minerals are para magnetic and ferro magnetic.

To be honest, the sprout within the ring magnet does have very nice, uniform and healthy looking growth. It would be interesting to see if a regular ring of metal would have the same results. But if you think about magnetism and how it can affect humans, I'm sure that it may have an effect on plant life as well. I will repeat this experiment with 5 pots per type of magnet, and also include another 5 pots with a regular piece of round metal. It may not happen right away but I'll post the results after I do this. It's an interesting experiment, no matter the outcome. Oh, and I'm going to keep all of the pots a consistent color as well, because color can have a large impact on temperature and moisture. Great idea and I happen to have seeds that would be almost identical, so I guess we'll see. I'm actually looking forward to this. 🙂👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My guess is that it works because water is a polar molecule with a positive side and negative side. I wonder if the magnetic field somehow aligns the water molecules so that they are more readily absorbed by the plant. In other words, the magnetic field makes the water more hydrating for the plant somehow.

Water sent to top plant or roots, depends on magnet, again... different magnets different results, especially difference can be seen with electric-magnets with different coils, as from motors without the rotor.. Yes, true, as You said, particles hitting each other are registered faster from the plant neurals, and taken faster, into conversion (instead to wait & search for them). Geometrical figures/forms, also have huge impact. :)

You should do the experiment with at least 10 replicates that will involve 30 seeds and 30 pots and a lot of magnets and you should avoid the ring magnet .... I 'll be very happy if u manage to do that
@runs_through_the_forest
@runs_through_the_forest 5 жыл бұрын
why avoid the ring? if there's anything to the magnetic field/growth thats the one going to do the trick as the toroidal field centers at the seed, if you would see the fields of that other one its probably pretty off.. as magnetic fields are crazy interesting and plant growing even more this is awesome and asks for much more and serious research.. not that the mining of and costs would make it ok but..

Arrange bar magnets in an outer circle N to S all around instead of upright, and see if results are the same as the block circle magnet. :) I agree with another commenter: Faster might not necessarily be better. Living beings need time + circumstance to develop as structurally consistent as their peers. :)

Do it and post a video. Under good conditions faster just means faster. The information systems just need to be coherent to get it done quickly. The magnetic field informs several systems and allows coherency between them for faster process. Water is chaotic, unless influenced to coherency. Seed germination waiting for optimal conditions can be informed sooner so it can start it's process faster. Any changes to the soil system can only help but I don't know of any studies on magnets influence on dirt, mostly biology(cellular growth) and water.

First of all, great video. After seeing the results, I have a theory. The round magnet may have a better result because more water was concentrated at the center, and the bottom surface of the round magnet could have been moist, giving experiment (A) a sufficient source of water compared to the others. It would be great if you can revisit the experiment and have the same round shape with other materials. This should confirm if magnets really do have an effect on plants. Awesome video, don't take what I said as me trying to discredit your experiment, I am intrigued and invested.

You could only make this solid if you know that each seed has the exact same genetics which you cant, so multiple runs of this test with the same genetic profile would be necessary to see if the magnet makes a difference, not saying it doesn't but at the same time It could be coincidence with the genetic profile of the seeds :)

Amazing stuff !!! Just wondering what causes the plant with the magnetic field to grow faster on a molecular level
@stigmarto
@stigmarto 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe it is a combination of the magnet drawing the minerals in the surrounding soil closer to the plant/seed, the toroidal effects of the magnets could possibly help transport the minerals through out the plant on an molecular level too, if this is the case then perhaps it would be a good idea to have a ring magnet at the soil level and then at the desired root level have the bar magnets set radially, might also be interesting to do the opposite and have bar magnets suspended around top of plant or top of flower/fruit level creating a double torus magnetic field, which if you look at its shape it is very similar to how a plant looks ;) If this idea is valid it maybe useful on planets like mars which have little or no magnetic field ;)

Magnets help draw minerals into a plant faster therefore resulting in a faster growth rate, plus there are ethereal aspects of magnets that can draw in ethereal energy and focus it into the plant, a frequency generator with a magnet rapped in copper could greatly increase a plants growth 50 % more better than just a magnet by itself.

Hey there! Love the experiment and had a thought: Is it possible that the magnet's weight could have contributed to the plant's growth? I'm curious if there's a way to keep the magnet just barely hovering over the soil to prevent it's weight from having any effect.
