At the risk of sounding like I'm gushing I have to say you guys are one of my favs on KZbin! Your video production is *always* top notch with great sound and visuals and your content is always informative and entertaining. I love that you show menus and graphs and are forthright with cost/pricing in all you do. So sad to hear St. Pete, like many other metro areas, is getting so expensive folks are having to move away from downtown. I think it'd be interesting to follow your path as you transition to a more affordable place so I hope you'll consider a video series on that. Y'all are the best ambassadors St. Pete could ever have! Thanks so much for your wonderful videos! Rhonda

Thanks so much for the kind and thoughtful comment, Rhonda. We'll definitely document our path of moving out of downtown St. Pete in one way or another (either through videos, stories, Instagram posts, etc...). It's nice to hear that is something you'd be interested in! When we moved to St. Pete we felt it was such a great value, but we always new the prices would go up sooner or later. We just weren't expecting them to go up so much, so quickly! We are optimistic that we will find a good deal somewhere close to downtown St. Pete, so that we can still visit easily and frequently.

We are for sure coming back mid December to enjoy the Christmas event at the stadium. Then we plan on a few days in downtown. We have been saving up for a nice trip but a $17 milkshake is probably out of our budget and diet goals.

We would definitely suggest passing on the $17 milkshake, but if you do change your mind make sure you keep the souvenir cup (makes the price much palatable). And while the Enchant St. Pete is quite expensive as well, it's definitely a one of a kind experience, and worth it (although maybe just once) in our opinion.

I like it how your videos are authentic, heartfelt and local. I'll always be just a tourist in Florida, but I want to hear from people who live there and have skin in the game, so hearing you admit that 17 dollars is too much for a milkshake was a breath of fresh air. Also, when you asked for suggestions of a place to rent, that was very relatable. I'm tired of (wannabe) wealthy bloggers spending a fortune on a drab meal and pretending it's normal.

Seems like a lot of updates and things to see and do. I would be interested in trying the vegan restaurant - we aren't vegan, but I do enjoy eating more vegetarian options. The good fortune restaurant seemed nice too. That's INSANE that they can just raise your rent by 20%!! I think when we were renting, it was only raised like 1-2% each year. And we complained about that!
@Explorcation2 жыл бұрын
Skylar was especially amazed by how good that vegan place was. We thought it would be good (for vegan food), but it was just outright good. I think he's starting to see a world where he eats a lot less meet, especially if prices keep going up! And yeah, two 20% increases back to back are a bit to much to stomach. We honestly always thought St. Pete was underprices and expected the prices to rise sooner or later, we just didn't anticipate it to happen so suddenly.

I really liked the Ringside Cafe and need to add it to my list of places to go while I'm in the area. I love me some 80s hair bands so I have to keep an eye out on the live music schedule as well :) I liked the ambience at Good Fortune. I'm looking forward to your video on riding the Sunrunner. I'm sorry that you guys may have to move :( I hope you're able to find a reasonably priced place nearby (and I look forward to finding out if that place even exists since my dreams of living in St. Pete are being dashed by the high cost of rent). The last spot was really exciting because I LOVE me some churros! The best churros I had was when I went to Mexico. They had a little crunch to them. Looking forward to the next video :)

They just keep popping up all over the place. We could probably even make one of these videos every 2 months if we expanded our boundaries a little bit, but for now I think we'll stick to quarterly. We had no idea you could keep the glass until we looked it up online after the fact. They did not seem to advertise it in the shop. That said they did have some sinks in the dining area that we had no idea what the purpose of them was. We realize now that they are there so that you can wash out your cup before you take it home! Maybe if we go back and show them our video they'd be kind enough to give us a free one 😅

My old stomping grounds for over a decade. I’ll always love St. Pete and Tampa Bay, but it grew too much for my taste. Great video, though! Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the kind comment. We love St. Pete, but fear that at some point it will have grown too much for our taste as well. Only time will tell!

Oh no, you can’t move away from downtown St Pete…it honestly looks like such an amazing place to live 😍 I can’t believe all these amazing new places, on top of all the others that you’ve shown throughout the year! But umm…$17 for a milkshake 😳 it looked amazing, but probably just a once in a lifetime kinda milkshake 😅 Seems like you guys have a few decisions to make about your future plans…wishing you all the best with that, it’s so exciting though 🤗

It is amazing... but unfortunately, the secret seems to have gotten out (we may have had something to do with that) and now prices are sky-rocketing. To be fair, it's happening in cities all over the US, but it seems to especially be the case here in Florida. But we'll land on our feet and figure out a way to still make it to downtown St. Pete regularly! Thanks so much for the well wishes!

Woohoo, thanks for reviewing Good Intentions! It seemed a bit pricey for us during our last visit a few days ago, but based on your excellent review, we may have to try it next time! 🥳 💚 Hot tip if you want to explore more vegan eats (on the cheap!): Golden Dinosaurs in Gulfport does vegan Cuban sandwiches for $6 each on Thursdays, and you can get a delicious "flight" of five different vegan ice cream at Plant Love Ice Cream for just $9! 🍨

Our pleasure, Erica! A bit pricey yes, but almost every place is in and around downtown St. Pete. We really appreciate the recommendation. Skylar loves Cubans and said he'd be excited to try the vegan one! And you know I can never pass on some good ice cream!

I was literally cracking myself laughing over the look of Skylar's face at the mermaid Shake - Must be expensive. LOL...$17 would be way over my budget - That's like 23AUD here - lucky you only got the one ! That Asian fusion spot would have been amazing, so colourful and the meals looked divine. Would have probably ordered that salmon too but the ramen looked awesome too. Hey Jamie, nice job getting Skylar to the vegan spot, not sure I could get Matt there. I have cooked him vegan meals before which he likes, but he would never opt for them. I do love my meat too, but always nice for a change. I can't believe the rent is going up so much that you might have to move - Thats sad but I hope you find somewhere affordable soon. I'm sure whatever happens, your channel will continue to thrive and you'll have some new places to cover on your channel! NO MORE 17 buck milkshakes..LOL Nice way to end it with a Churros - Been ages since i've had one of those !

The only reason I agreed to one was "for the video". No way we were paying for two 😂 Jamie didn't have to twist my arm too much to get me to the Vegan spot... I was pretty curious about trying fake meat. I really was expecting it to be far inferior to real meat though and it really wasn't. I don't think I'll ever go full vegan, but I could definitely see myself cutting back a bit... especially if meat prices keep rising! We've been enjoying the process of looking for a new place in a new neighborhood. Moving to a new place is always exciting, even though the process of moving itself definitely isn't. The good news is we own the least amount of stuff now as we have in the last 10 years, so the move shouldn't be too terrible of an experience.

FYI, for the visitors Re. The climate. Cool in Oct. is NOT the norm. Our HOT & very MUGGY summer is a full eight months, April thru the end of Nov.. Too hot for most people to be outside biking, walking, running, playing, or anything else, except to walk to the car. I had out-of-state family visit in late Nov. who didn’t want to get out of the car due to the heat. This is the norm.
@Explorcation2 жыл бұрын
Hi Janet. We do agree that it can still get extremely hot in October, but you get plenty of comfortable days (in our opinion) as well. The average high temperature in St. Pete in October is 84 degrees, and the average low is 70. Most people will find somewhere in between those two temperatures to be quite comfortable, although everyone's definition of a comfortable is different.

How much were you paid by these businesses to promote them?
@Explorcation2 жыл бұрын
Nothing. We are paid through KZbin add revenue and occasionally video sponsors. We did not receive anything from any of the businesses we visited in this video. None of them even had any idea we were coming.

note, the reason 'so many new places' is because so many terrible half assed places open and fail. Smashburgers are overplayed. paying premium prices for a beef wafer, nah. Also mayo NEVER goes on beef. EVER. do you put that trash on a steak? no so dont ruin a burger by putting egg and fat all over it. wakala. makes sense that you like vegan food. you ruined the burger with mayo. lol
@Explorcation2 жыл бұрын
Mayo on steak? I usually go with ranch dressing, but will try anything once! Just kidding. Thanks for the laughs, Mike.

I love that they took a lane away from 1st Ave N and S as well as South Pasadena so people who commute for work have a longer drive! It's for "equity" though, so you know it's all 👍🏻
