@@amir1836 the old ones would’ve been unsafe and had a lot of known issues I have a 68 series 2 with the same engine as that range just mines a 3.5, the new ones are really safe but still have issues (especially the 4cyl engines) but they are no where near as bad as people like to claim on the internet.

It costs a lot less to give an original RR a “Singer Style” treatment than it does an air cooled Porsche. That Ed Pink Flat 6 is probably $100k on its own. My point is that there’s almost nothing special about this over a stock car besides a little tuning and a mildly improved interior. Otherwise I would just mistake it for a clean stock RR.

This restomod has been built to a poor standard. No thought has gone into it. I love restomods. I love the whole concept of breathing new life into great older vehicles, ICE or EV. This though, is by far the most underwhelming and overpriced restomod Ive seen to date. It appears very little attention to detail, for relatively little gain, and for insane money - highly disappointing. Any competent home mechanic could buy an old Range Rover, get the frame galvanised, bolt on the fancy bits and motor, get a spray and fit a stereo, pay a leather trimmer for the interior and produce this vehicle for what? A fifth to a third of this money? Call it £60k. If you’re paying for a professionally built restomod at this sort of mental price, it needs to come with attention to detail and a build quality that screams wow thats awesome, far far in excess of home built.. this isn’t it. Above all - what a shame.

its too expensive for the limited attention to detail they put to it imo. usb chargers out the back with green leds that looks like a cigarette lighter charger? a generic sony head unit? nothing custom about the dash other than wrapping it in leather?(sorry also the phone charger) no struts for the hood? like matt said, no electric seats and no fuel theft protection? not even electric windows work properly, interior lights are inadequate, sunroof suncover fitment is subpar and the list goes on... And the thing is, some stuff are really nice, but it feels like the rest is not finished yet. I get that it was made 40 years ago, but it was "restomodded" in 2020s... I would rather call this a modified diy project offroader bUiLd

The thing with restorations is you either restore the car back to its former glory using exact parts preferably as genuine as possible, no after market gadgets. Or you keep the look and soul of the car visually but add modern technology so it can compete with the cars of today. This car is neither of them its not suitable for either market, the old school guys won’t like its new features and the new school won’t like the lack lustre old features. And for £170k?? Crazy.

I appreciate the work on the interior but the fit and finish needs work. Sticking sunroof shade and window operation in general. Otherwise it's just a lick of paint and some aftermarket addons. It's embarrassing they are asking that price.

I’ve had several generations of Range Rovers throughout the years, and nothing to this day, beats the “command viewing” of the Classic County. The high sitting position and the large windows gave it a safari tractor feel. 1990 County, 3.9, in Westminster Gray, she was relatively slow, a gas guzzler, left abstract paintings on the driveway with her various fluids, and had service receipts that was as thick as a telephone book, but I sure do miss her, one of the most iconic designs in automobile history.

what does the word "awesome" have to do with JDM fans? I was born in 92, and that was a very normal way of complimenting something, or saying you were having a good time in general, when I was growing up. I mean, it may have eventually become a bit too common of a phrase to be _literally_ true, but it's only a slight exaggeration of the word "awesome", so idk why some people have such a problem with it. Every generation and locality have at least a few words/phrases of slang that are unique to them, but I really don't think that calling things "awesome" is one, it just makes logical sense in the modern day with how common it is to slightly exaggerate things.

Hi Matt…… The Kingsley RR is a bit over the top!!!! My daily drive is a 1990 3.9 V8 4door which I’ve owned since new!!!! It’s got approximately 280,000 kms on the clock….. it has the same four speed auto as the Kingsley, same dials and gauges, but it drives and handles like a peach 🍑!!! I can steer with one finger!!! It’s so cruisey and relaxing to drive!!!! The very original RR had the side mirrors on the castles on the front bonnet!!!! I’ve got a 1972 suffix A Range Rover and that is such a brill vehicle!!! To change from second to third gear it takes two minutes!!!! But it will take off in second gear‘cause of all the torque!!! Originality for me all the time!!!! Oh Mat, can of worms open! :-) First of all, it is truly awesome to see the RR Classic becoming a collector (shame they smashed one in the new Bond movie) and as an owner of an 87 Vogue who drove it 1200k’s in a single trip (stock/original standard) I can tell you they drive amazingly well and relatable to a modern car if the bushes and shocks are all good. No bumpy ride, but nice and smooth. Love your show and reviews, but as an ex 996 C4S and Jimny owner I also also owns a RRC….get yourself one before you cannot buy another for sensible money!….I.e. 2024 the RRC will be unaffordable to most.

Compared to some restomods out there, this seems to be poor on what you get for your cash. Other than that, the lack of ABS seems to be just odd given the monumental amount they think four callipers and discs are worth. Its one of the most significant steps on car safety and to leave it out seems a bit useless IMO.

man i'd love to see one of these with a bigass 454 chevy motor, or a 351 ford, or any big block mopar heck even a 383. 5.0L is a big engine over there in britain, but in america we go much larger lol and this seems like the perfect candidate for a big lumpy rumbling V8 : D although i would option it without any touchscreens, and i'd pay extra to get rid of those wheels. i remember lots of Rangies used to have color matched rims? Those would be brilliant, maybe in a dark green or blue. love these old bricks E>

Sickeningly overpriced. I own a 1990 Range Rover Classic. Ok, it doesn't have all the new leather etc, but it has ABS, the windows open and close at the same speed and you get the same audio pleasure from the V8, but I only paid £2,800 for it!

Love classics and resto mod vehicles. This one looked like it was done to a level more like 40k not north of 125k. Everything you touched was fragile and temperamental. In the background of the some of the scenes you could see components flap and move as if barely attached. The 7k brakes loved like they where fitted to hubs that had been wire brushed and roughly painted. Basically it appeared the attention to detail wasn't there for its price tag. But I'm sure its a perfectly usable car or be it with all the fragility of a normal range rover classic.

I had one of these back in the day, also in white (WITH the vinyl obviously;) that's where my love affair with Range Rovers began (I now have the L322.) I loved that Mk 1; the all round visibility was awesome and the "castellated" corners at the end of the bonnet made parking easier, in the days before sensors. Mine was actually a Mazda diesel conversion when I bought it (they became popular because with the 3.5 V8 it was a serious gas guzzler.) Unfortunately it was a bit of a botch job and I ended up needing a replacement, which was pretty simple as the scrapyards were full of rotting Rover SD1's with still the same 3.5 V8 engine, still in good running order. I picked one up for £50! But I had to sell the car soon afterwards, as I was averaging 12mpg with a 20 mile daily commute. In my opinion, purely aesthetically speaking, the original 2 door Mk 1 and the Mk 3 (L322) are the two best looking versions of this vehicle.

I once crashed my car due to abs malfunction. I was on dual carriageway and European left hand drive lorry didn’t properly check his mirrors before overtaking another lorry in front of him. I had to slam my brakes, but due to abs sensor fault my front left wheel locked up, car started spinning out of control hit the side rail on the road even my wheel broke off. Got lucky to escape without any injuries.
