I have been known to be very studious and nerdy since my childhood. But after getting chance in Cadet College, things tend to change as such I had never imagined before. Not being able to cover up the syllabus, sleeping during prep hours and eventualky making average grades had been normal. This video feels like a blessing rn. Am about to rant a bit, so exuse me for that. There's about a month left till the first wave of admission tests. I've always been among the toppers in my school and college and had high standards set by family and relatives. I never gave more effort than needed, but always kept my consistency. That got me through most of the stuff like you said. But now that I'm competing with the bests, I'm struggling with my identity. I was a good student, but not excellent. I never got scholarship in board exams despite hoping and working hard for it. This time though, we had short syllabus and compromised exam routine due to the pandemic. I had a huge gap in studies, barely finished the topics before exam. The results were good, but that was the case with everyone. Last month, the scholarship results came out. And I finally got scholarship in HSC! I know I didn't work hard enough for it, but it's sort of poetic justice, considering that our scores in some subjects were an average of the scores in JSC and SSC. So that consistent effort didn't entirely go to waste. On the downside, this made everyone's expectations skyrocket and is making my life difficult. I don't deal well with this much pressure and the fact that I'm unable to perform to a level of my own satisfaction frustrates me. Recently, I've started analysing my performance and systematically advancing with a clear goal- I want to work hard enough to get into top 300 in BUET. Whether I actually get into that isn't the question. I'm just going to give the effort that I know and believe that someone who needs to get there must give. I'm currently standing at 60%-70% I want to get to at least 90% within next month. And I plan on visiting this video in a month to assess my progress.

Updates: I got through the admission phase, currently studying Economics in University of Dhaka. My first semester finals ongoing. Placed 31st in DU D unit, 3993rd in DU A unit, 105th in BUET architecture (waitlisted, didn't make final call). Life is so weird. DU D Unit was my plan C. BUET and A unit exams didn't go as expected, D unit exam went well beyond expectations. Luck plays such a grand role. But without working hard, luck can't alone save you. I know I worked hard, but so did everyone. Either way, if a junior of mine sees this, never give up, you'll surely get somewhere in life. I am gonna work hard in my own discipline now and hopefully that's gonna get me somewhere.
