My daughter used this same method back when we were living in Jamaica ,she planted an otaheiti apple tree and we were so amazed how quickly it grew and bore fruits long before other apple trees that had been planted long before hers. Very sandy soil needs more manure

You guys need to build your soil, how about 8" of wood chips and some organic matter.
