That's awesome. I've been extremely happy with the decision to do it and more happy with the folks I've "helped" to enjoy that process as well.

plan on overseeding with bentgrass this fall, thanks for the content, its very helpful

If you can mow low enough everything else will basically just die. I'm a huge fan of the appearance of it as well. Only downside is it looks really bad when it makes its way into taller cut sections.

Heck yea. It's not an insignificant amount of work but it's not as much as I expected and it's so much fun.

I dug up a few rocks out of my green I hit them while aerating. Just fill the dips with sand and level out to repair the dip?

Yes.

Jason, can you make a video about the herbicide that is safe to use on Bent Grass? *The Affordable* options? I have a 500 sq ft putting green with bentgrass; please and thank you
@JasonSeiberlich Жыл бұрын
I use spectracides product with the yellow cap. Will be adding quinclorac to that here coming up and talking about that as part of a kill weeds in new grass video.

@@JasonSeiberlich thanks! what about pre-emergent for bentgrass?
@JasonSeiberlich Жыл бұрын
Greens height there isn't anything. Fairway height and above you can use the regular pre options (prodiamine, dithiopyr)

I got a KBG lawn and looking at attempting a putting green at 4-5 mm I’m currently at 12mm but have gone down to 5 mm and the kbg struggled a bit was thinking of over seeding with brown top bent what would you do kill it all off and go full bent or just over seed with bent.
@JasonSeiberlich2 жыл бұрын
You could try to scalp and then get bent germinated while the kbg suffers. If you can do that the kbg will eventually just die at greens height. Easiest though probably to kill it off if you're all in on doing it.

I’m in a place too hot to grow bent grass what grass do you think I could grow from a seed that I can cut around 1/4 inch and not kill
@JasonSeiberlich2 жыл бұрын
You could try with an improved common bermuda. But would recommend finding somewhere that sells dwarf varieties of bermuda sod.

Hey Jason, Was wondering if you had any recommendations for when to roll back watering. I’m on day 7 after planting. Used an organic greens grade 3-3-3 as starter fert per recommendations. Have some germination but do not have a sea of green yet. I am still doing “frequent and light” watering, about every 2-3 hours for 15mins or so with 3 pulsating sprinkler heads (standard hose sizes). Just not sure when I should roll that back. Obviously I should get a moisture content thingy to know for certain but didn’t get one yet. Anyway, enjoying the channel man. Just starting to pick through all of your content. Best regards!

I would say to give it until a few days after the germination window to water for germination. For bent that's probably 15-20 days you want to water for germination before walking back to more the establishment phase watering where it's maybe once a day for longer depending on conditions and soil profile. You are however at a great spot to start going with fert every week or close to it to push the growth and fill in process.

@@JasonSeiberlich Thanks much for the prompt response! Sincerely appreciate that - That sounds like very reasonable advice. In all of the research I’ve done I haven’t come across a recommendation or article that dials in that germination period with a bit more specificity like that. I think it’s obvious we should always continue to observe and make tweaks and adjustments to suit the specific on the ground needs, but I think what you said is what I was thinking would be the correct timeframe. Anyway, yeah, I also added another 20lbs of the 3-3-3 yesterday (day 6). I’m new to this and was using my wife’s scale to weigh fertilizer so I think I went a little too light when I first planted. So I went a little heavier on the 2nd application. Was curious about this too so thank you for offering this info, I wasn’t sure if I should fert every week for the first 5-6 weeks maybe? My local fert supplier also gave me 50lbs of 5-4-5 (the 3-3-3 starter is earthworks greens grade with Mycorrhiza and what they called the fall/late fall fert is the 5-4-5 earthworks greens grade Replenish). He said I would basically use the 2 50lbs (100 lbs total) from speeding to end of season this year, then to come back and discuss winterizing. Green is approx. 1450-1500 sf, basically as close to USGA spec as I could do as a DIYer. Thanks again man!

Couple other notes: 1-fert guy supplies local golf courses. I’m making a huge assumption he’s giving me correct stuff. 2-first application of 3-3-3 fert was per recommendations on back of bag at 15lbs per 1000sf for new seeding. I pro rated for 1500 sf.

@KA-dm9lm anything with that analysis (1-1-1) will be good. Feel like that is probably about the most unnecessarily expensive way you can accomplish that goal, though.
@KA-dm9lm6 ай бұрын
@@JasonSeiberlich Haha probably. Like I said, I don’t really know what I’m doing. But as I do improve my knowledge, I’m all for being efficient. I assume you mean the fertilizer? I think I’ll watch some of your content and learn a bit

Scarified and Overseeded my green(currently just 3/8” hoc kbg) with bent grass, should I keep mowing while it germinates or just wait a couple weeks ?
@JasonSeiberlich2 жыл бұрын
You're going to have to. If you have a pgr at your disposal that will help but not necessary. Raise the HoC to maybe a half or 3/4 and just be as low touch as you can. If/when you see the bent start to establish them bring the height back down slowly.
@jimrobinson73572 жыл бұрын
@@JasonSeiberlich I hit it with the PGR a couple days before the overseed, thanks for the advice, love your videos
@ourspacesinc Жыл бұрын
Do you continue to mow the existing established grass or after over seeding? Or will walking on the green damage than you see that you put down
@JasonSeiberlich Жыл бұрын
I kept mowing it but at the taller height. Then walk it all down together when the new grass is established enough to start mowing.
