I have a box drill with a back on mover. What a pain in the butt. One of these days I’m gonna get one with factory transport built in. Doubt I’ll make the leap to air for a while yet.

Was a cool concepts. And wasn’t the end of the world of you had help

Definitely pulling a lever and lifting the wings is easy but the back on transport was light years ahead of the other mover we had. You clipped it on to the back of the drill. Then had to back up forcing the drill up in the air. Then run out and hook chains up before it fell down lol. And the last box drill dad had with an on board transport wasn't much different then the back on one. You still had to unhook one hitch. Drive around and hook on the otherside.

@@jeremycherny2041 my old drill had factory transports, way prefer it to this back on bs. But it was so wore out, it was time to move on. I’m by myself moving, it’s not fun loading that thing on my own. Big thing is getting it straight enough with the transport that it all falls into the pipe holders at the same time. Doesn’t always happen on the first or third try. 🙄

@@jeremycherny2041 damn doubtful. Lol. Would like some zero till box drills ideally though. Simpler mechanically for my non mechanical mind.

The days of box drills. The old boys still struggle with 12 inch spacing. Fertilizer was a nightmare back then.
@millionairefarmer.2 ай бұрын
I was thinking that the other day, we used to have a divider in tandem bigger side was for fertilizer. Now we haul seed out with the single axel abd fertilizer out with front super b trailer

@@millionairefarmer. neighbours are going . I’m still calving. I only got 600 acres to seed. Probably not until end of May after cows go out to pasture. If we can get grass growing.

All seeds have a minimum temperature that the soil must reach before they will begin to germinate. Most seeds will not germinate in soil that is below 8 degrees. And they germinate much better and faster if the soil is at least 10-12 degrees. ((there Celsius degrees here) 11C=52F

Interesting

I was told to take your soil temp properly, do it at 6 am. Take it at noon and take it at 6 pm and do your average. It was plus 2 here on the avarage a day ago.

@@millionairefarmer. 2 large farms are going. One is sitting, says its too cold. One is sitting and said it was too wet. I don't think any little guys have gone yet in our immediate area. 🤷♂️.

All depends on your soil were we live if it’s to wet and you seed it’s not good depending on what kind of drill your running like going to Vegas lol
