Thanks Bill & Val... to help out with the plant numbers, we have purchased a small plastic covered greenhouse, to use as a cold frame. Its not something I would normally use, but It will be a help this season. Hope the weather improves for you both, take care regards from us both.

Hey mate. Good luck with just the one small greenhouse, this year. With all that you get done over the growing season, I think you do a bloody good job. You and Dianne, make a great team and your content is second to none. The BBC would love to own your content… magnificent work mate. You to should be proud. Just an Australian bloke who loves to grow veggies as well. Saying well done.

I was sorting out my ivy leafed and regal pelargoniums today. Sorting and tidying the greenhouse as I go. Set a few seeds; dwarf cosmos, spinach, cucumber. Tried not to get too ahead of myself. The ground here is still very wet....

Yes we are all getting into the sowing, potting, but we must keep one eye on the weather. Hope the ground improves soon Neil regards Cliff.

Great video Cliff. Really informative, thank you. I think I would like to buy a soil thermometer. I will look around for one that looks quite good. I have overwintered my geraniums in a windowed, insulated outhouse- not heated, and they are doing really well. In fact most of them are flowering. I have kept them on the dry side. I tidied my plants last week as they were looking a bit tatty with dead leaves etc. I have mainly the ivy leaf trailing geraniums, that I use in baskets, although I have grown 20 new pot plants from seed this year. My Fuchsias seem to be waking up now too, and the salvias. All stored in the greenhouse set at 5 degrees C, to avoid the plants getting frosted. Thank you again. Happy gardening 😃

Sound like you have everything in hand bewoodford, you will be ready for the warmer weather. The thermometer we have also reads pH, light levels, and moisture content very useful. I believe it was bought from Amazon regards Cliff.

Good you're not allergic to hard work with the last months you've had. ; ) Couple of questions please....how many gallons are the potato bags, how many potatoes in each (or was there a video where you planted them that I missed)? What is the potted little tree behind you in the greenhouse? Thanks for covering the repotting of the geraniums. Take good care and stay warm you guys.
@CastleHillGarden6 ай бұрын
Hi marc, the potato bags hold 50 litres when full, didn't show the planting but showed the potatoes I put in five in each. The potted tree is a silver pine, It was a reject being sold at half price. Its recovered nicely I have potted It on, and going to use as a Christmas tree outdoors at the cottage front. This saves me buying one each year, keeping it potted should keep it compact regards Cliff.

Thanks. That will make a lovely Christmas tree. ; )@@CastleHillGarden

Seedlings looking great! And, your overwintered pelargoniums and fuchsias look fantastic. I forgot to bring my fuchsias into the garage in time this winter so I am afraid I have lost them. Shame as I have had them for many years. But sometimes things happen and I am trying not to be too upset at myself. I also am late at starting seeds this year. It’s been a tough month and I am also dreading the return of fungus gnats as I have to keep my seedlings inside. Years ago, fungus gnats were not a problem but they sure are now. Do you deal with fungus gnats there?
@CastleHillGarden6 ай бұрын
Hi Gigi, sorry to hear about your fuchsias maybe you will start a new collection. We don't have problem with fungus gnats, all though we have problems with other insects. Happy sowing they will soon catch up regards Cliff.

Hi Cliff, thanks for the great video, are there any seeds that will germinate in an unheated plastic greenhouse, you know the ones with the zips to close the cover? I have Kale, beetroot, chard, sprouts, sprouting broccoli, kohlrabi, we are getting a lot of rain and strong winds here the temperature is 9 10 and 11c and the night temperature is 3 4 and 5c I’m desperate to get started but at the same time I don’t want my seeds to rot! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I do have the seed trays and covers like yours too.
@CastleHillGarden6 ай бұрын
Hi Greenfingers all those will germinate in your plastic greenhouse, in those seed trays and covers. Cover them all at night with plenty of fleece regards Cliff.
