I've noticed that many Ableton Live drum tutorials on KZbin go directly to using the "manual" method of laying sounds on the timeline-which is cool and all, but it sort of defeats the purpose of using Ableton Live tools… This video does a fantastic job of explaining how using the Drum Rack can be an efficient way of producing drums in Ableton Live. (There is nothing wrong with the "manual" method-and as he described, it's a good idea to use a hybrid approach. But man, it would be great to see more producers use Drum Racks more efficiently out there… 🙂) Great work!

Great video! You can also separate each cell into individual tracks by creating the same number of new midi tracks as you have cells and simply drag each cell straight onto each midi track. You can do more processing to each sample that way too.

I’ve set my rack up for finger drumming on the push 2 with mirrored samples for each hand i.e. two kicks, snares, hihats, etc. Is there a way to change the midi notes on the mirrored samples to match each other so that the sequencer is fully functional and the grid only shows one row for each matching pad?

I haven't used audio for drums in years, (Unless it's a one shot, like a crash or huge kick for an impact) I always use Drum Rack, but I only knew half of what you covered in this video, thanks! Not sure why anyone would use audio over Drum Rack when you can automate and edit literally everything inside of it and keep everything tidy and save on tracks 🤔
