Thanks for this! I’ve wanted a reamp box for a long time but never wanted to spend the cash for a Radial box, even though they’re great. ($400 usually goes towards a new pedal instead…) This DIY box sounds great, is affordable, and I like that you don’t have to plug it in either. Your workflow tips are golden too. Would love to see more reamping content from you!

Awesome tutorial. Missing are: 1. Discussion of stereo pedals, and stereo reampers, and advanced solutions like the Radial KeyLargo which has 3 inputs (so could reamp and be used with two other rigs like 2 additional physical synths), and can do stereo 2. Setups that can use the balanced line level signals from DAW without the need for reamping, for example: daw out -> ChaseBliss CXM 1978 reverb -> back to daw using 2x2 (stereo) trs cables (one power up procedure on the CXM to switch from unbalanced to balanced)

need to setup hardware latency to get wet/dry in phase. mine is 42 samples @48k. match gain, flip polarity, and earball it. great that you talk about latency and external audio/midi effect racks because monitoring, delay compensation, and latency are the most misunderstood concepts in ableton live

Yeah i was going to go over that but the video was already 20 mins haha. Null testing is rad.

So inspiring and educational! And that's why you're one of the best. I'd love a video on reworking the signal with a reamp box.

Hey Anthony! Very interesting video again! Currently I'm diving deep into your sound design course and I love the way you describe things. Finally I got the need of reamp boxes haha. For everybody who has pedals laying around.. Try to use it for new unique sounds. It's amazing. Trust me! A video about dry guitar signals and using it for later amping would be very nice. Maybe you have some tips on how we could handle multiple pedals with only for example one in and out on the interface too. I'm still struggling organizing it without changing cables the whole time on a session. Greetings from Germany. \m/

How did you get the audio out of ableton though? Im using scarlet and cant figure out the outputs

I would love to see some guitar videos with the reamp. I am hoping to get an electric guitar soon to incorporate some dry signals directly into Live. I would also love to see a mix of using Live's amps with analog pedals. I have space for a few pedals...not so much amps...

Cheers, great vid as always. In terms of re amp box, if you do a vid maybe focus on more esoteric uses of the box within Ableton. Maybe some M4L devices designed to work in a pedal/external gear environment. Thanks again 🤘

Brilliant video! still let me ask you this: I am setting my first 6 slot, 500 series combo and I have 1 slot left and thinking if I really need to invest in the 500 series version of Radial Reamp if I want to connect pedals? I don't have any pedals yet but I am getting some delivered in a few days. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the video, super informative and well put together Question If I put a synth bass plugin sound that’s been widened with a unison spread effect, is there anyway to distort that signal and keep the stereo widening effect? Would I need two distortion pedals for the left and right signal or are there stereo distortion pedals?
@PeterJaquesMusic Жыл бұрын
the only stereo distortions i know of are digital ones (like in the Line 6 Helix) so in analog land you'd need two separate pedals. (or separately process the left, freeze, and process the right & freeze). What I'd probably do though is add the (mono) dirt *before* the stereo widening. Or another option would be to add a mid/side processor, and just distort the mid channel...

So I have a Chroma, Microcosm, Light Pedal, UAD Delverb, Nemesis Delay, and ACS1. These all will take line level is there any advantage here really? I kinda bought this on a whim after watching this but it looks like it’s only mono anyway, lol.
@brendanwilliamson459024 күн бұрын
Only thing mono in this setup is the light pedal, but it’s too cool to care.
@ckrug3223 күн бұрын
You don’t need a reamp box if your pedals accept a line level signal. I’ve successfully used my Microcosm and Volante this way. There are stereo reamp boxes out there for stereo pedals without a line level mode. If you keep your mono reamp box, you can use it for the methods mentioned in the video: using distortion (and other mono, Hi-Z pedals like phaser, tremolo, etc), and reamping a dry signal from a direct input guitar track out through an amp and back into your DAW.
