A #SeeingIsBelieving visit is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for purposeful leaders to explore the interconnected issues affecting communities and shape long-term transformational change. Last week we took visit leader Paul Lewis from @LinklatersLLP and delegates from Eversheds Sutherland, Arup , Mott Macdonald, @ovoenergy, Tiny Rebel, SPTS Technologies Ltd, a KLA Company, Office for National Statistics, ICC Wales, WESLEY CLOVER WALES LIMITED, Enterprise, Convatec, @kpmg, TSB Bank, @swptv and @PwC to #Newport to translate passion and expertise into action.
In an area that was promised much but let down often, employment and resources are not reaching people in Newport, so we brought businesses to #Pillgwenlly and the surrounding areas to work together to start the process of creating opportunities and removing the unconscious barriers that exist in the region.
👥 Delegates met with community leaders before visiting KidCare4u to better understand how they could lift the programmes supporting families in the heart of the region. The next stop was Eden Gate, a charity reaching out to people who are experiencing homelessness where Fran Richley shared details of plans to grow their shoulder-to-shoulder initiative which uses music and outdoor activity to help guests build confidence and embark on a journey of change.
Finally, delegates were brought to Newport Market to collaborate, commit to the next steps, and take immediate action to contribute towards new and innovative solutions to some of the most important issues identified through the visit.
