Yep, on this ship you definitely need to pack in holiday mode, not moving mode. It might be your home for 6 months, but you're not going to have home comforts for 6 months. You want to free up as much space as you can there, so that you at least feel like you've got some to move around. I wonder who has unobstructed views, because this is the 5th cabin tour I've seen and they've all been obstructed in some way.

Resident acknowledges that Resident’s breach of this Section will cause irreparable and material loss and damage to VVR as to which it will not have an adequate remedy at law or in damages and that accordingly, the issuance of an injunction or other equitable remedy in favor of VVR is an appropriate remedy for any such breach, including costs and damages, in addition to such other rights and remedies as VVR may have with respect thereto. This Section will survive the termination of this Agreement for a period of 2 years."

Did you have the strong diesel fumes smell in your cabin today (29 November)? A neighbouring cabin not far from yours thought it was quite nauseating. Even decks above and below yours had it too. You would have been lucky to escape it.

That's why I think it's essential to have your own best clean air machine in your own cabin because any air filtration system VV has is outdated and not as good as what is available on newer ships. That sounds quite unhealthy and people should probably leave their cabin immediately until it completely dissipates.

When the guys shared their view out the window there appears to be a possible privacy issue with the balcony to right. Looks like they may have moved villas. Hopefully they’ll let us know because I’m excited to see it. Love seeing the cabin tours.

I kinda look at this investment as a Condo, but at sea. The monthly costs feels like an HOA. Part of me says the risks are too great. Part of me says the adventures are worth it. Of course my opinion is based in not knowing the fine details.

I hope it has been renovated thoroughly for its new role. Your cabin looks fine for a normal cruise but hope it doesn't start to feel too compact after a few weeks aboard. Hey! Thanks for the question and the good words. The ship hasn’t been fully renovated but has passed rigorous inspections and had much work done to do so. Of course some of these were causes for delays and over spending that has been difficult and widely publicized. We are in and excited with our eyes open. Glad you’re coming along with us!

@dawnturner8735 yes the cabin is completely ours to occupy because we purchased/leased it for the full 15 years. Note that there are other rental/segment/Endless Horizons programs that are just for shorter periods though depending on what the individual wants.

Ummmm.... So, what happens when this Ship decides to decommission? What happens to your "Investment" then? Might turn out to be a bit of a Red Herring, sorry.

The max commitment is 15 years. It’s a right to use. If the ships life is less than 15 years our price is prorated and refunded for any years less than 15. The contract, that the majority onboard signed, used to say if the ship failed the passenger would get a prorated amount of their circumnavigation fee refunded. A circumnavigation is 3.5 years. The contract didn't say anything about 15 years (that's only on the website with no real guarantee). And if the contract has changed, how would VV have the money to refund owners after the ship failed and they likely wouldn't have paid off the 3 loans as yet and they'd owe employees and suppliers etc. Where would all that money come from after the catastrophe of the ship not lasting?

@@RetiredZGrt I haven’t read the contract; do you know if the “owners” are subject to special assessments (such as you’d be subject to in a typical condominium property)? Villa Vie still has major mechanical problems (water and HVAC specifically), and the ship still has more hurdles to overcome before it can be allowed to visit many ports including the United States - that means $$$. Villa Vie is struggling financially; I question how viable this operation truly is.

But I do know VVR has already devised a number of ways to get more money from existing residents when they couldn't sell sufficient cabins to new people. 1] They went back to Founders and got them to "invest" more; 2] They offered 10% discounts for any resident to prepay monthly fees or prepay segments (they needed cash); 3] They encouraged residents to postpone using their shipboard credit to help them out (as posted by a resident who did postpone); 4] They retroactively clawed back part of the amount they had committed to reimbursing residents for their forced long term stay in expensive Belfast; 5] They encouraged existing residents to upgrade their cabins so they would purchase the more expensive cabin and be committed to the more expensive monthly fees and per a vlogger 50% of residents did upgrade and then VVR saved money by hiring only 1 Dr when they had advertised there would be both a male and female Dr onboard, didn't open the promised dining options, didn't deliver the culinary arts center nor golf simulator, didn't install Virtual Windows in cabins, didn't install working circulation and filtration systems on the pools/hot tubs (according to the COO) even though that area was redone in the renovation, didn't purchase the computer and software that controls the HVAC system that controls the overall air flow, how and where it's distributed so some areas are hot and humid and others freezing. There are many ways for VVR to get more $ from existing residents than to just make an assessment.

@ellieg334 we don’t know. Azamara rooms wonderful but the bathrooms have always been a sticking point for us. But yeah generally the ship decor is more classic Carnival and Royal Caribbean which is not a problem for us, but not everyone’s tastes.

New comment to say - I noticed on the website that the owners cabin ( biggest on the ship) is reserved and the featured cabin that's promoted as the cabin of choice is the same level as the one featured here. This makes me go hmm. If these men are the company owners , how much do you want to bet that this entire vid is just an infomercial and they are, in fact, living in the owners cabin!

Hey. Thanks for the question and coming along with us! For sure there’s risk. We looked at the market opportunities and the ability to scale the company if the concept is successful on the first ship, coupled with the ability to raise fees for segment rentals and other revenue opportunities when we pulled the trigger. That said, we aren’t selling our home nor spending anything we can’t afford to lose, as this is a startup. We are enjoying it and have our eyes open. Thanks again for your question.

It is strange why you two are promoting the Villa Vie ? Rumors are saying that the ship is paying you to report good things about the ship, so more people will buy a cabin. But the ship is old & needs repairs all the time. People will lose money on this ship & you two should be ashamed of yourself !! Allegedly. Hope you regret your nasty reports. 😮😮😮

What happens if the ship breaks down and VVR can’t afford the repairs? Could they dock somewhere and save up or can they charge the villa owners an assessment fee to cover the repairs and get moving? I realise the VVR is not an HOA just wondering what happens if they don’t have enough reserves to pay for a costly repair.

Since the ship had to be registered as new one with the new buyer, plus many of the "mechanical stuff" are new... the ship most definitely should have Marine insurance.

@kimhickman9210 no we mean buying. Some do indeed rent but we purchased it for our exclusive use. Although the more technical term is “right to occupy”, in effect leasing it for use for a 15 year period.
