My life would have been better if I met this guy when I was a kid. All the fear that I experienced with stinging and biting insects I would have avoided.

I love that you give so much detail on the more common insects and bugs! I really enjoy learning about the critters that we see on a regular basis but dont know much about. There are plenty of youtube channels talking about the "scariest" insects to get views, but there are very few that truly educate you on the things we're actually likely to encounter! You and Travis McEnery are my go-to entomology channels! Keep up the great work. You're a true gem.

I've been rearing monarchs and black swallowtails this year. It's so fun watching them grow. I have had so many monarchs and not enough milk weed. Im going to try to grow some inside over the winter. I also caught a black widow the other day and made a little home for her. Next year, I really want to get some luna moth eggs and raise them. I really have a fascination with insects. It's amazing what you can find around you when you are looking.

I saw on your webpage that you explicitly say you're not an entomologist. You said that you've just observed invertebrates, read a lot of books, researched them, and worked at an insect facility. Well, that's what entomologists do. They observe, read books, do research, and work with invertebrates. The title, "Ph.D" is short for Philiosophae Doctura, or "Doctor of Philosophy". Philosophy, broken down is Philo, or love and sophistry means knowledge, wisdom, or learned. So, a Ph.D in entomology means you live learning about invertebrates. So, I guess that's you etymology lesson about entomology. Anyway, I just wanted to point out that while you don't have the formal degree to legally call yourself an entomologist, you absolutely are from the meaning of the word. Also, have you thought of going through all that schooling to officially get your Ph.D in entomology? I could totally you being an amazing professor. People teaching something that gave a passion for that things make the best teachers. I love your enthusiasm for invertebrates.
@kelvinwileyАй бұрын
I completely understand what you mean. I personally put on my website that I’m not an entomologist to avoid being looked at as an expert. I do consider myself knowledgeable in this field of study, but I know how many people can be when it comes to someone showcasing or explaining something of a study that they don’t have a degree. But yes, I do agree that by definition, I’m considered an entomologist. I just didn’t want people to think that I had a qualifying degree in this particular field. But as of now, I am currently in school in hopes of one day getting a degree in entomology! 😄
