seejanedrill I’m still trying to do too many things lol. I’ve finished the wood seats and the three coats of spar urethane for some metal chairs, will be putting all the foam, batting and fabric and they will get moved out to clear some room . A friend offered to come over later this week. She said she won’t help, but she will be here if I cut myself and get me to the doctor if needed, so the wood might actually get pieced out! She is afraid of power tools and I’m not going to be able to change that. Ten years ago or so, I gave her a corded circular saw as a gift. She gave it away :). I still have to think on if I will take her presence. I’ve got the Baltic birch just waiting to be laid out and cut! But at 5’ x 5’, and no help, I’ll be doing it on the floor with some solid insulation board. My legs aren’t going to like that! I should’ve been more careful with that ladder. I took some of the 2x4”s out of the old bathroom that’s being remodeled to use as sawbucks. The edges are square, not rounded. It looks like old growth pine but it is construction grade. One of the studs is still weeping sap and the addition was built in the 60’s. And I will be straightening some nails at sometime...I’ll save the best looking stud pieces for another project that might come up. I may just need to build a sliding saw frame, it would probably be safer. What do you think? And I’ve figured out I can loosen the facia to pull out the soffit and replace with some vented metal for my “finishing building”

Usually the main concern is not the wings breaking. Over tightening can actually cause the wings to bust through the drywall, that’s what you have to look out for.

Another tip is to make a dry run on the screws with your drill before you install it. Sometimes they cross thread and the ears get mangled. It's happened to me enough times. Making sure they screw in smooth first will save you some headaches.

Hey Joe, here is what I recommend. Do your research before starting any electrical job. Follow all safety precautions and guidelines. Make sure the power is turned off, and double check it with a voltage tester before beginning the job. Last, but not least, is that there is an element of danger to electrical wiring work that you don't necessarily have with other types of DIY jobs. So, if you feel uncomfortable with proceeding, by all means consult with a licensed electrician. Best regards, Leah

Sure, it'll work but you'd be much better off with old work "smart box" that would attach to the framing stud. Doing it this way makes it much less likely of damaging the plaster when cutting out the wooden lathe. You're welcome.
@robbiemer8178
@robbiemer8178 5 жыл бұрын
@@electricalron , once I started to work on the wall--a surround for the fireplace in my living room--and look at what was there, I ended up taking out the lath and plaster and reframing the section of wall, used sheetrock and added a switch for the two light fixtures I was replacing. The original boxes for the lights were contemporary to the house (about 1928) so they were not working well with the new wiring and new fixtures. I did the construction and had an actual electrician come and run the wiring and connect every thing correctly.
