fun fact about the toruk makto stuff .. jack didnt "forced himself" on to toruk ... it is said that an ikran choses a rider by trying to kill him .. and in the scenes were they got attacked by toruk .. he only followed and try to kill jack ... so in a way, toruk chose jack as his rider :)

@ajnosz120 Жыл бұрын
Actually, I think Toruk kind of hunts everyone because he is a predator. I don't think he attacked them because he wanted to bond with Jake. This is only my personal thought, but I don't truly understand people saying that the ikrans are being forced because in the beginning, it is more like a dual. Your ikran will only try to kill you because it wants to know if you are up to them. It is like a challenge. After the connection, it is not like the Na'vi take control of their minds, they are not taking over them, even though Jake says: "You are mine now." it is not true. Avatar 2 Spoiler incoming!! If you take that part in Avatar 2, where Quaritch's ikran is hurt by Jake riding on that Skimwing, it is clear that they are flying and fighting with the people because they choose to. After he got bit, he flew away because he had enough, he chose to do that as well. I truly don't think that they are overtaken by the Na'vi, rather they are co-operating. They are connected like an human and a pet. This is my theory at least.

Unobtanium is a naturally occurring super conductor at room temperature. When you use electricity to power anything, say for example a light bulb, 90% of the electricity you send to that light bulb gets turned into heat due to resistance of the materials that the electricity is travelling through (like copper wires) so only 10% of that power is being used to actually light the bulb. A superconductor has no resistance so you can utilise electricity infinitely more efficiently but superconductors are made in a lab and have to be kept at sub 0 temperatures so finding a naturally occurring superconductor that’s stable at room temperature is pretty much world changing.

There are so many foreshadowing parts for the war at the end and some with how Eywa "chose" Jake. One obviously is with the "jellyfish pure spirits" surrounding him in the beginning. However, the part when Jake is getting his Okran for the first time, there's a one too that many people miss. Jake asks her, "How will I know it will choose me?" She answers with, "It will try to kill you". Once the flying time lapses happen, they were attacked by the big one, The Last Shadow. Notice how they are the same species, just with him, hes the only big one left. So, when they were attacked, it was because Jake was chosen by The Last Shadow. There was one shot in slow motion, showing it trying to bite Jake, only Jake. Watching it back, you notice it wasn't after Neytiri at all.

I love how the plot conceit of the body swapping Avatars dovetails so seamlessly with the technological device of the actors' motion capture work translating to digital avatars on the screen. It makes the result very fluid and natural to fostering believability in the transformation and whole world that Cameron created. In fact, it's such a seamless and obvious combination of the plot and the theater craft that nobody really even thinks of it while watching.

Note: I am not woke Avatar tackles the subject of colonialism and how it affected the indigenous peoples all over the world. The Na’vi are like mixture of both Indigenous American, African, and Pacific Islander cultures. I noticed that the humans are mostly played by white actors and the Na’vi are played by POC (People of Color). The US Marines represents the Europeans “discovering” a new world, but instead in this film they discover a new planet that’s already been inhabited with an indigenous population and they want their resources. Even though we all know the outcome in reality, but in this film the Na’vi are victorious. James Cameron was deeply inspired by that aspect of human history that he had to get it on the big screen.

They never said Jake or Norm were on Pandora with Grace. His brother was in a training program with his avatar on earth. And so was Norm. Which is why after Jake and Norm got to Pandora (together, remember) and walked into the lab they were like 'oh, they (their avatars) got so big'. The movie just didn't show the parts between when Jake was offered to take his brother's place at the funeral and when he got to Pandora. It probably consisted of him getting a crash course in what the program was about and seeing his brother's growing avatar before he got on the ship and was put to sleep but it's understood. They were never on Pandora with Grace before that. Norm just was a whole Pandora nerd/ fan of Grace and her work so he knew everything about the place, but he was never there.

9:56 good question. Pandora is the moon orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus which is indeed the size of Saturn. Pandora is located in the Alpha Centauri system (a star system of 3 stars in the southern sky in the constellation of Centaurus) which is located around 4.3 light years away making it the Solar system’s nearest stellar neighbor. Pandora’s planet Polyphemus orbits the star Alpha Centauri A which is the largest star in the system and slightly bigger than our Sun. All of this takes place in the mid 22nd century, everything is somewhat near future technology and the ways of interstellar travel is done right. This is why I adore Avatar because of the story, the CGI, the alien life forms that call Pandora home, and the near future technology that is in Avatar.

Not so fun fact: A deleted scene depicted a guy in one of the mech suits finding Tsu’tey after he is shot and he tells Tsu’tey as he grabs him by the queue (ponytail), "I hear this is worse than death for you,” and he cuts it off. It also says that’s why Tsu’tey wanted to die. Even if he was able to be saved, he would never be able to fly an ikran, ride a pa’li (horse), bond with another women, or connect to the tree of souls ever again. You can even see in the extended version that his queue is missing in the scene.

The entire US power grid couldn't handle being only wind, solar, or hydropower. The whole reason that very little of the nation's power comes from wind, solar, and hydropower is cause it always needs replaced and you need such a vast amount of it to be able to compare to oil or coal. For example: Solar panels need replaced every 25 years and they're made out of toxic materials which generate waste. Windmills need replaced every 25-50 years, kill birds, and we figured out that they also harm marine life if you put them in the ocean. Can't speak on hydropower, but if I remember correctly, it's the least energy producing of the three. Same can be said about electric cars. They're quiet and can go the same distance as a regular car, however if you're traveling across the country for example; you will stop WAAAAY more times to charge your vehicle than you will to refill your gas tank in a normal car. Not to mention: If a truck/car breaks down in the middle of no where, you can refill it easily compared to being screwed since there's no charging station around ya. We haven't even gotten into the fact that the materials for solar, wind, hydropower, and electric cars are all collected/transported by oil and coal machines/vehicles... Even charging stations run on gas lol. If people wanna replace oil and coal then we need to stop looking at temporary solutions which will just create problems of their own. Instead, we need to look towards nuclear power and the possibility of plasma reactors which nations like France and Germany are currently working on.

So, in our solar system, Pandora is a moon of Saturn, but here its one of 14 moons of a gas planet called Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri system with 3 stars (one of them a red dwarf) set in 2154. It's about 4.3 light years away from Earth. So even if they have light speed for the spaceships, it takes 4.3 years to get there, but you also have to accelerate and slow down so travel time is a bit longer. But please, go watch the sequal in IMAX 3D for your own experience, you can always rewatch it for the channel. These movies are very, very rare and should be seen in theater.

Man this is why I love Avatar because the setting is real, we’re talking about a real life star system Alpha Centauri A the largest star in the Alpha Centauri system, the alien life forms that call pandora home was also well though out by James Cameron because all of the alien creatures have 6 limbs to make up for the light gravity and it also explains why the Na’vi are 10ft tall to make up for the light gravity too, plus all of the near future technology is one of many reasons I love Avatar. If you notice, they are using filter breathers, not air tanks or any bulky thing Thats because Pandora has an Oxygen rich atmosphere, the problem, besides some trace elements, is that the Carbon Dioxide levels are WAY to high to breath for human life. And its not a huge number but its enough to be too toxic for human life. So they use those Filter Masks, kinda like if you ever watched Apollo 13, the air filtration systems, to filter out the Carbon Dioxide to safe levels and give them the proper Oxygen to breath

This movie is so sad. It represents what we are doing to nature in our world today. Not many people know this, but the our trees have a Mycorrhizas network. (like web to communicate) The older the tree the more networks it haves. The one with the most network is known as the mother tree. It has just been found out that these networks help them communicate. For example if a trees will be able to know if a younger tree is not getting enough nutrients and they will help. When we cut them down, or add chemicals to soil we break or harm those connections. It is not just with trees either.

I noticed that in the directors cut of the movie, in the beginning Jake says that his brother got stabbed to death but in the Final Cut in the movie, he says it’s a gun.

10:00 Im not sure if it was in the movie or not, but that (fictional) planet polyphemus, which is the gas giant in the background is said to be located in the (real) Alpha Kentauri system, which is actually the closest star system to us, being *only* ca. 4 light years away.

I feel thatGrace being in the system now gives the Navi a good understanding of everything that she knows about science and humanity. Hopefully Grace will make another appearance in the next 2 films as she made in Avatar 2

Unobtainium is a superconductor. It allow for extreme amount of power to pass through it. It supposedly works 10x better than fiber optics and 15x to 20x better than the copper wiring inside coaxial cable.

So, just going by the theatrical release, and totally not read up on the lore online, but it seems like the mineral unobtanium, a superconductor at room temperatures, is not only in the big ore deposits. It's in everything, and is what allows every living thing to connect with each other. Their deity is really their collective consciousness, comprised of everyone and everything that has ever lived. They are all connected through the mineral, in their bodies and in the planet beneath. One big memory card and CPU, rolled into one. Which means they would never agree to allow the mineral to be mined. It would be like carving off pieces of their god.

me too. it's more stunning and more emotional than the first one. i really hope it goes beyond phenomenal in the cinemas. i heard that the way of water needs to earn exceptionally high in order for the franchise to be 5 movies long.

No plot hole. Sigourney Weaver's Character Grace had been on Pandora for years, probably planned on never going back to earth. Think about Jane Goodall spending decades studying Chimps in Africa. She "wrote the book" on Pandoran biology. Jake's brother and Norm were younger scientists who were giving up probably 15 years of their life to come to Pandora to study. (5 years travel there, 3-4-5? years working on Pandora, and then 5 years travel back). The Avatars were first grown on earth from a researcher's DNA so they could link with it. Then that researcher would board the ship and travel 5 years in suspended animation to Pandora. So what happened was sometime just before the ship was scheduled to leave earth Jake's brother was killed and they offered Jake the opportunity to take his place because otherwise all the money spent on creating the avatar would be wasted. That's why Giovanni Ribisi's character says to Grace "I thought we got lucky there". Also not Pandora is not a moon of Jupiter, It's a moon of another gas giant in another solar system. The spot on Jupiter is the great red spot. It's a storm the size of earth that's been there for centuries. Pandora essentially has to be at Proxima or Alpha Centauri, because without faster than light travel there's no other star that is close enough to reach in 5 years. Even then the math doesn't really work. Passengers does a much better job of displaying slower than light travel - the ship there taking like 100 years to travel to another world. The only way the timeline works is that the ship must have faster than light travel and that Pandora is around a star further than Alpha Centauri. It is odd though that they never mention it. But the galaxy is big, Pandora might be 20 or 30 light years from Earth and our FTL technology isn't really much faster than light - thus still taking years to get somewhere worth going.

I think the Ring trilogy holds up pretty well CGI-wise too, although it has begun to crack a little here and there in recent years. But Avatar is of course in a league of its own. Turns out it pays off to take your sweet time doing something.

They explain the space travel pretty good in the movie tie in book Polyphemus (the Jupiter like planet Pandora orbits around) orbits one of the stars in the Alpha Centauri system Which is the closest star system to Earth The movies ship travels around 40% the speed of light with Anti Matter fuel They speed up to 40% of the speed of light and half way through they start to slow down That is why it takes 6 years to Pandora

Thing with "solar and wind all we need" was an idea back then too, but it's not enough to maintain even current size population. In situation of overpopulation like that it'll be not nearly enough. So it's no outdated things here, it's quite accurate.
