Next thing you know 1:25 you are in a large white room and you see a door you start walking towards it. Then you realize that you don't seem to be moving so you start running. still no movement. the walls start to move in on you and continue to try and get to the door as the room becomes smaller and smaller 1:45 you think that you re going to make it and start reaching for the doorknob. 2:06 you fall through the floor. You don't stop falling until 2:50 you open your eyes wondering if you are dead and find yourself in a glass box you put your hand against and it collapses when you look around you see that you are in a field of tall grass and flowers. Part 2 further away there is a house. the closer you get the more you start to recognize it. you reach the house and realize that it is your house 3:11 your house is completely empty except for a projector. the projector is flashing images and videos of your childhood . 3:54 You run out of the house and see that the field is dead. And you realize that you didn't escape the madness. 4:14 You see another door but don't really trust it because of the last one... Part 3 final 4:35 you find the courage to open the door and inside there are mirrors. each is a different version of yourself (best and worst). 4:57 you touch the one that looks like normal you and you are shot backward really fast again. you close your eyes in fear of what might happen again. 5:40 you open your eyes and find you are in bed. you're sweating and breathing heavily looking around your bedroom. you begin to get calm as you realize it was all a dream. Ahhh man i remember when i just found flume. It was my sophomore year back when i was still shy and didn’t know a thing about the world yet. Just a innocent boy who had a deep connection with music. This was back in 2016 so music was just making a shift. I recall mostly bumping mostly edm and some rap but, it was always music like this that gave me such a unique vibe. I remember 8th period just ended and i had just bought spotify premium while i waited for my ride. I thought might as well just look for new music. Suddenly, i stumbled upon flume and this was one of the first songs i heard. Ever since then i felt like this was that song that was very different from other music. I realized mellow songs or songs like T&R was the vibe i was trying to look for in music. I deadass bumped it everyday and couldn’t get enough it. From late nights thoughts, to walking around, and a smoke sesh with myself. There was not one day i wouldn’t play this, point is i played it everyday since 2016 til today in 2020. I still remember the memories attached to this song. Those are the best type of songs. Idk why i wrote this but hope some people can relate in some way or spark conversation. I have such a similar experience. I was into trap and EDM, at least I thought I was back in 2012/2013. It turned out it was just because I hadn’t found Flume yet. The first song I ever heard was his unreleased song “That Look” and it changed my life musically forever. Ever since that song I have been a completely devout Flume fan. Test and Recognise is certainly in my top 3. It could even be number one. Something about his music makes me feel like I am but an empty vessel with unlimited possibilities to achieve. When I listen to this song, I’m everyone. I’m escaping. I’m finding. I’m beyond human. Flume changed my life. He’s been my most listened to artist for 4 years in a row now. I highly suggest you listen to “Weekend” and definitely “That Look” - you should find the latter on KZbin and Soundcloud. “Quirk” is also a beautiful one. As well as “3” - honestly. All of his songs are uniquely beautiful in their own way. I will forever be envious to the people that got to see these songs performed live. I feel like It would’ve changed my life. I wish you only the best on your musical self discovery.
