Are foldable roof solar panels the future of cars? When deployed, it can achieve 1500-2000 watts of solar charging power, with an average daily recharge range of 30-50 miles.
@TildaAzrisk5 ай бұрын
There is a company called Aptera that is looking to bring to market a solar EV able to get up to 40 miles of range from solar a day, and that's with 700 watts of solar built onto the car. Will also have spare capacity in the solar management to be able to hook up additional panel. And if solar isn't enough, is able to DC fast charge from Tesla chargers. What I'm really really interest in that that the boost from solar could make charging from standard 120 volt outles enough to do daily commutes. The option of a 1000 mile per charge battery pack is a big plus.
@007fbi74 ай бұрын
@@TildaAzrisk We are currently working on a solar project to extend the range of pure electric vehicles. When folded, it resembles a roof luggage box, and when unfolded, it becomes 9 solar panels in seconds. According to the actual test of the 1500W prototype installed on the vehicle, the daily charging range in Shanghai in March was 40-60 kilometers. Based on our ground test data from the previous year, it can be estimated that the daily charging range will be 50-80 kilometers from June to September this year. Both unfolding and folding are fully automatic, which is very convenient. We also have a 2000W specification.

@Muckin 4on well... See the problem with what you've said is mainly that you do not know the rules of the car design. Also a molten salt thermal engine. Are you joking. They're never going to produce nearly enough energy to do that in that dinky little car. Plus it would be a huge safety hazard and also extremely heavy, making it a bit too useless. About the creativity and thinking outside the box thing, you're wrong, the teachings the are given aren't outside the box because if you teach them that then that's pretty much redefining the box isn't it. These people work years of Thier life trying to come up with better solutions for these things, unless you know exactly what's going on or know more about it and can creat a better product than them then continue your criticism. But what you've said isn't even criticism, withought any expertise or research into the topic at hand any opinion of yours would amount to the same as an ants opinion on how to prepare mashed potatoes, utterly useless that is.

We had this at my high school here in texas. I was looking forward to this moment for a long time since joining the school and its a dream to race and design cars. Sad its my last year and that it was cancelled this year cause the states cant do whats necessary to control the virus 😞

That’s tough! I hope you can take your passion for designing cars and focus it somewhere else!

they have batteries, they are capacitors that hold the charge at a safe level, it's when the battery charge gets too low that's when you see the sluggishness and of course, if they don't have a BMS it will catch fire.

spoken like a true Belgian compatriot !! The Dutch out-engineering everyone, the Japanese on par, and the USA acting like you would expect them to. I can only imagine what a Russian solar car would look like since everyone is confirming their stereotypes

The Le Mans of solar cars would be the 24-hour European Solar Challenge that happens in even-numbered years, at Circuit Zolder in Belgium.

Each team needs to build and bring along two complete cars. One for parts. And in case of accidents. Like one team brought two engines.
