5:44 This is a mistranslation. The sign you mistook as "BLACK " is actually the one for WHITE-MAN in PISL. He signed "WHITE-PERSON" in ASL to clarify.

Ya'at'ee James, I am trying to teach my Native students how to do sign language to the song "Color Nature Gone" here are the lyrics: The color blue no longer paints the sky And the rivers have turned to grey The color green no longer paints the leaves And the trees have all burned away [Chorus] People have made the colors change Color nature gone People have made the colors change Color nature gone [Verse 2] The color clean no longer paints the land And the flowers have been laid to rest The color clear no longer paints the rain And the fish have all turned to death [Chorus] People have made the colors change Color nature gone People have made the colors change Color nature gone [Outro] People have made them change People have made them change People have made them change People have made them change People have made them change Can you help me with the signs, I have some of it worked out by don't know how to sign for colors - blue, green, grey, or the words clear, clean, fish, gone.

As a black person I feel a certain way about being put in the same category as the white man, particularly since my family has Native American ancestry. It's disheartening that other groups who share the same plight as black people and have been wronged by the same oppressor look down on us. When will we learn?

It's a mistranslation. The sign for WHITE MAN in Plains Indian SL is similar to BLACK in ASL.
