Great explanation! I don't have a ton of acres so its good to see that the milo can be planted, broadcast, and still have success with it!

Randy......great test with the Milo. It certainly is a good plan when one is looking for the addition of feed and screening for the deer. We got our fall plots planted last week, and are receiving rain currently. We lightly disc, rototilled, broadcast, and cultipacked, and we anticipate good plots this year. The corn and beans were planted in May. Good luck and thanks for sharing...Bob

Hey Randy, sorry the corn didn't work out. I hope you do another update to see how the milo works out into the hunting season. On my property, the deer will eventually start pulling down the seed heads on the milo and I wonder if it will survive as a screen, or if the deer will knock it down too much as they graze the tops? Thank you for sharing your lessons with us!

Please keep the videos coming. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I have 1 acre of white clover and 5 acres of corn. I just planted 1 acre of the crimson clover from John at Northwoods. I want to mow a path through my corn field to move the deer where I want them. Any suggestions on what I can plant or add in that mowed path? Winter rye ? Thanks

Yes rye is a great choice

you should have planted the whole thing with corn. By doing this you allow them access to the rows from both sides. By planting the entire field, you have a better chance of the deer not getting into it, as long as you have 30" rows. the tighter the better. Yes they will get the edges, but wont hammer the entire thing.

You should try some wheat or switchgrass, works so well.

How many oz of imox are you spraying per acre. And how long does that stay in the soil or can you plant same day?

4-6 oz of Imox per acre. It does have a residual effect on grains and brassicas for several weeks, but not if you overseed more clover.

You should have planted solid corn…the strips just aren’t enough to last til fall.
