The Bee Gees could sing incredibly high notes, as you saw, but they also sang songs in a more common voice range. They wrote over 1000 songs, and also wrote songs for other artists, eg. 'Islands in the Stream' for Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers.

Their voices sound so similar likely because they are brothers. They are able to match each other note for note, pitch for pitch, in perfect tune.
@dortheychastain21954 жыл бұрын
It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats.This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad!

I grew up listening to the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍 I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would sound like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️

Barry Gibb said he loved the Falsetto's of the black groups like the Stylistics, Earth, Wind, and Fire etc. back in the day. What made the BeeGee's unique was they had a three part falsetto group. I dont know any other group that did falsettos that way.

The Brothers Gibb ...... Professionally known as 'The Bee Gees.' I was married a year before this song was released. The song would had been our wedding song, even if hubby said no. They wrote ALL of their songs! Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in England, then moved to Australia. (1) Maurice (on the right-short hair ) While on his way to surgery for his intestines, he had a heart attack, yet the doctors operated anyway. (I heard Barry say this on a video.) He was in the hospital for only 2 days! Maurice (pronounced Morris) passed in 2003. I feel he should had been the lead on at least one song on every album. Beautiful voice. (2) Robin (on the left-long hair) passed in 2012 from cancer. He and Barry complimented each other with their voices. To me, he was the comedian of the group. Robin and Maurice were fraternal twins. (3) Andy, (not pictured) the youngest brother had his own successful career. He passed in 1988, at the age of 30, from inflammation of the muscles around his heart. He and Barry could had passed as twins, even though he was 12 yrs younger than Barry. The 3 brothers were also married and had children. (4) Barry (in the middle) said, "I am the last man standing." Barry is the eldest of the brothers. On September 1, 2021, he and his wife, Linda will celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary, which is also Barry's 75th birthday. They have 5 adult children, and 7 grandchildren. The Bee Gees have sold over 220 million records worldwide (probably more by now.) They were also writers for other musical artists. On a side note, their sister, Lesley is the first born. She was 76, January, 2021. She lives a quiet life with her family. Listen to: How Deep Is Your Love ----- Staying Alive --- You Win Again --- Emotion (a song written for Samantha Sang)

When they recorded this, they had already been professionally recording for over 20 years. If you very carefully listen, you'll notice their diction and vibrato are so in sync that it sounds like one voice with multiple overtones. This was one of their most notable characteristics along with being masters of the falsetto. Also, they wrote over 100 songs for other artists that became top hits. You'll be totally astonished when researching big hits that they wrote.

The name was not specifically a reference to "Brother Gibbs". It is a popular belief though. It was named after Bill Gates (not that one), Bill Goode and Barry Gibbs who all shared the same initials. It was later changed from BG's to Bee Gee's.

If it wasn't for Barry's high falsetto the Disco arrow would have ended the Bee Gees but as it turned out when they found that high falsetto they become one of the biggest stars during the Disco era the song you're listening to Too Much Heaven is one of those songs there's about six others from the Disco era. Yep songs like How Deep is your Love, staying alive, You should be Dancing, More than a woman, Night Fever, and jive talking.

The Bee Gees where from Australia. They were all brother's. They started out real young and it took a while for them to make. They were popular in the 70's and 80's. The disco era. They traveled the entire globe performing after they hit it big. They also had a younger brother named Andy Gibb who preformed around the same time who they helped get in the music business. Sadly Andy got involved with the wrong kind of people that were into drug's and alcohol. And he passed away. His brother's were devastated because they had promised there Mom they would look after him. They did there best Barry said but he wouldn't listen. Barry could hit such high notes when he sang. He had perfect pitch. And they all had God given talent. Unfortunately Barry is the only one still alive today. But during there time they preformed with some of the biggest names in the business. And they also wrote and produce a lot of there music. I heard on a documentary than t while Barry was preforming he was in severe pain in his back but because he did not like to disappoint his fan's because it took so long for them to make it he endured it. Now that takes a lot of courage.
