About the band:
The rock quartet, who also founded the annual Rise Above Fest for nearly ten years to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness, remains a beacon of integrity on their new upcoming album The Surface Seems So Far, which promises to captivate both loyal fans and newcomers alike with its blend of memorable hooks, driving rhythms, and unapologetic rock spirit. With five gold and platinum albums and two dozen Billboard Rock Airplay Top 10 hits including 20 No. 1s at U.S. radio (including their anthems “Broken,” “Fake It” and “Words as Weapons”) throughout a career spanning over two decades, Seether is as vibrant and relevant as ever. Hailing from South Africa, Shaun Morgan proudly draws inspiration from his grunge and hard rock roots, crafting a unique sonic identity that propelled the band’s Gold-certified American debut and continues to resonate deeply with fans worldwide.

I feel compelled by something to comment on this song. I heard this song for the first time a couple weeks ago. I work in a gym, and ironically it came on while I was working. I loved the beat and haven’t kept up on seether’s music for a long time, so I decided i’d look up the song and lyrics. It hit me so close to home I almost cried. I’ve suffered social anxiety most of my life and all throughout high school and even most of my college years up to this point (still in college) I have been lonely and anxious as hell. I used to eat lunch on the stairs in high school by myself and went almost the whole 4 years without even talking to really anyone. This song almost described my past life perfectly. Such an intense connection that it made me emotional. Low key might be starting to tear up typing this. Things have gotten better since then. But the song’s theme is so true, and I know exactly what it means. When you feel that adrenaline force inside you that keeps saying “say something now” but you can’t find it in yourself to break the monotony.

I know exactly how that feels. I was alone throughout high school and some in college. Its harder now, i dont have things to keep me distracted anymore.

My brother and I were always made fun of. I was that kid that sat with all the other outcast. But god forbid I heard someone talking shit about anyone who wasn't me. I got a lot of detentions just cause how viscous I was when I'd stand up for my fellow outcast. Though my principal was proud once when it was cause someone made fun of a physical disability my brother has.
@sloan8315
@sloan8315 3 жыл бұрын
I was exactly like that as well. My whole four years in high school was spent in complete silence essentially.. many people even thought I was mute. I just got so anxious and shut down around people. I'd sleep in classes all the time. I'd wanna talk and have friends, but I was just too damn shy. This continued in college for 2 years. I used to cry at night and got lost in videogames and music to forget my anxiety. I then forced myself to talk to at least one new person each day, whether be a student, or someone at the local bookstore. Saying "hi" was good enough. Eventually I made it a goal to meet and get the name of one new person each day-even though this felt extremely awkward at times. This eventually led to me making a lot of friends. And then winning vice president of an honors club. And now I'm in a profession that requires giving presentations to high level people. I don't necessarily have a lot of friends because I just care about the few I have. The point I make is twofold: there's always someone out there who can relate to you in some way, no matter how weird you think you are - there's a lot of people! And you can always crawl yourself out of feeling like you're stuck somewhere by taking very small steps in the direction you want to be. I hope this helps at least one person
@DSTULL.

Great comment dude. But just so you know, even people who have friends can be lonely. I had so many friends back when I was in high school that I didn't have any REAL friends. It's better to have 1 good friend than 100 OK ones. Loneliness can stem from so many things. I have an amazing beautiful wife and 2 awesome kids who I am around constantly and yet I can still feel alone. Alone can also mean misunderstood or even just even feeling out of place or different from everyone else. Stay positive!!

I love this comment thread, & tbh I kinda teared up reading it too, esp eating lunch in the stairs bc I’m in college too & the first year on campus I couldn’t go to the cafeteria once bc my social anxiety got so bad. Never once went there bc I was petrified, even to go to classes. Sure, people may have known me at high school but it had 84 ppl in my grade but I never really had a true friend to the point I skipped a class for 1 1/2 years before I ever got noticed that I wasn’t there. Meeting ppl on video games definitely helped me & talkin to people (like on CoD) w/ my mic to get me used to talking to people again. Even met my gf of 3 years on a game even tho we live 8 hours apart. There’s always someone as weird as you out there. Granted, the only friend I have is my gf, I wouldn’t be here w/o her so stuff happens for a reason. Don’t get bogged down by the details. Sorry for the rant lmao.

I thought the same, but only at the beginning, it's just similar. This is a pure Seether song ❤️

It does sound a lot like Hexagram in the beginning. Battle Axe is my favorite from that album, in case anyone cares lol

Why does this album remind me of early 2000s when metal was popping so hard. I miss those days I love this band soo much.

Even thoughbthere is a lot of influence with nirvana from seether, I believe Morgan and the others surpassed nirvana. Had Kurt lived i think he would have hit a wall where seether didn't. Also ive always believed nirvana was overrated. For the grunge movement ya, he was influential. More credit should have gone to groups like Alice n chains. I mean hell to me ugly kid Joe had more influence than nirvana. And much, MUCH more credit should have gone to groups like pantera and NIN for their influence on music in general. Finding groups like them is the only reason I can still listen to SOME of the music now-a-days. Almost all music is just mass produced noise these days.

Love this song, kinda get a 10 years vibe from it too, which is pretty cool also. But this song is so relevant now. I will always love Seether for their honesty and just awesome music
