Fishing the SLAM SHADY by Salt Strong - Does it Catch Fish? (Lure Review)

In this video, I put Salt Strong's Slam Shady lures to the test. This paddletail lure was one of the most recommended lures for me to try out in a lure review type of video. It's a 3.5 inch long white soft plastic paddletail that comes in a pack of 7. I paired them with 1/4oz and 1/8oz jig heads while targeting redfish, snook, and speckled trout around oyster bars and grass flats. At the end of the video, I give my honest opinion of these lures and what I do and don't like about them.

For those askin, that’s the slam shady 2.0. One of my go to lures works great as a paddle tail or as a jerk bait with the tail pinched off

I have been used the slam Shady for almost 3 years and I have caught hundreds of snooks and trouts on it. Has probably the best action at low speed and it just works. Only down side it’s scented so it will get eaten by puffer or pinfish. After zman it’s my favorite. I like it way better than doa because it has better action. For reds I love the FRED from salt strong. It’s the same lure but pink. It’s a killer. I have caught 32”33” reds and even double up on it

Love the slayer paddle tails for when the currents really moving. DOA for when it’s slack tides or skipping under groves.

I am a Salt strong member. Used the slam shady one morning. We found the fish and they were feeding hard. I caught the entire time, some as soon as lure it water. My buddies were using other lures and the SS out fished them.

Hello James. I came across this video and read your comment. I live in South Africa. I was so lucky when one of my friends went over to America and got me some slam shady lures. Salt Strong does not supply us in SA yet. Mannaged to get me a TFO 7'6 rod aswell. Awesome products. Wished i could get some lyres afain.

They used the be the same. The Slam Shady 1.0 was made by z-man for Salt Strong, but these are the newer Slam Shady 2.0 which is made directly by Salt Strong themselves

Yea he pretty much nailed it above, I would just add that they are also made from 2 different materials. The zman version is a harder to get on a hook/twistlock and has less action but stronger material, the Salt strong 2.0 version is easier to hook, way more action with a little less toughness. It all depends on what you prefer!

At 7 for 4 bucks vs. 12 for 7 bucks or so, there's not much difference in price and I have caught more fish on these than any other paddle tail. A like Brent in this vid, I have caught fish on the nub, if a puffer or pin bites off the paddle. Not arguing with you, just throwing in my 2 cents and experience.
