Arienne was kind enough to speak to my class a few years ago during lockdown while my class was online. I use her videos on places such as Louisbourg, Cape Breton, to make history more relevant. I am always pleased to watch these well narrated and professionally edited travel videos.

Another great one that showed up in my feed. Living in the hub of Essex County, this one's closer to home, very cozy. Lots of history.

Amherstburg is a very neat town to visit! I've gone there a couple times in the past several years as I live over in the Detroit area, and I enjoyed checking out the history there especially at Fort Malden. Spectacular job with the video! It was well put together, and the drone footage was amazing!

My home area; a real treasure. I brought 3 groups of friends "back home" from the Hamilton area last summer and all were treated to the 1.5 hr. ferry ride to Pelee Island and the historic lighthouse and block house on Bois Blanc Island, directly across from the King's Navy Yard Park. Heritage Brewery is next door to our home farm, now Dancing Swallows Vineyard. ViewPointe Winery offers a superlative view of the many small islands on Lake Erie. Oxley Beach Golf Course is the most beautiful and most southerly course in the country! Those murals you pan past on the high school were put there in 1967 for Canada's centennial, when I was a student in grade nine. Love all the places you have highlighted and on the way back to the GTA must stop at Point Pelee National Park, a conservation jewel and a fun place for family picnics and swimming.

Thanks so much for the wonderful comment Ruth! I loved visiting Amherstburg and the surrounding area. I'll have to come back and visit Pelee Island and Bois Blanc Island :)

Hit & miss.. we have had some real nasty Arctic hard winters and very mild... one thing with this area the weather changes.... wait a minute it will change.

I’m sure there are many people in the GTA that are looking for ideas of weekend getaways for short one or two days trips. Your recommendations are very much appreciated.
