Thanks for going over the different versions :) Really cool but the buy in is just too high for us because our interest is not high enough. This will be very helpful for anyone wondering where to start and what model is right for them

Yea, the system and games are not a light investment. Maybe you can catch a deal one day, and now you know what to look for.

The model 2 is what I use because of the better reliability. But, man... that model 1 looks so flipping cool looking. I also owned a CDX when I was younger. I wish I still had one. Awesome guide!

@moandaindesigns The Sega CD is still relatively obscure for casual audiences. At SEGE a few years ago, I walked up to a huge booth. It was obviously run by a game store. I asked if they had any Sega CD stuff, and the employee said, "you mean Sega Genesis?" I replied, "no, Sega CD." He then proceeded to show me Dreamcast stuff. When I explained to him what the Sega CD was, he said he'd never heard of it before.

I'd like to get a model 1 CD sometime. Mostly to stack a model 1 Gen on top and have the tower of power. Lol, the comment about the JVC xeye breaking was great.

With all the people making replacement parts for gears and the moving parts, you may be able to get a broken one for cheap and fix it up.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I need a working one. An empty shell would probably work to start. If I decide to collect for the CD then I can get a working one. lol
