(Part 1) We finally conclude the MD Mini 2 selection with Vs. Futari de Puyo Puyo Sun, M2's Mega Drive port of Compile's Puyo Puyo Sun (1996) that was originally developed for the Sega Titan Video hardware. As the name implores, Vs. Futari only features the two-player versus mode. While Puyo Puyo Sun was ported to contemporary systems of the time, Vs. Futari was included as a bonus game on M2's Mega Drive Mini 2 on October 27, 2022. During the MD Mini 2's development, M2's Naoki Horii oked on how Sega Saturn games could be ported to the Mega Drive while M2 faced difficulties with getting Sega Mega-CD titles to run properly. While indeed the Saturn was more advanced than the Mega Drive, it was thought that M2 had the expertise to port a Saturn game to that platform. Reflecting on how Puyo Puyo Sun wasn't well-received by players as Puyo Puyo Tsuu was at the time of its release (and for good reason), MD Mini 2 director Takeshi Matsuoka chose a Mega Drive port of Puyo Puyo Sun. Vs. Futari was intended to be a full port of Puyo Puyo Sun, however M2 had only one month of development time left, and programming the single-player modes would take three more months, though they had the manzai demos and CPU character routines ready. The core gameplay was completed by this point and M2 did not want to shelve their progress, so they settled with only focusing on the 2P versus mode for this port, believing that the core of Puyo Puyo focused on competitive play. M2 were able to develop the MD version in cooperation with former Compile staff who worked on the original game, with Madou Monogatari / Puyo Puyo artist Ichi returning to design the new cover art.

(Part 2) And that's a wrap for the Sega Mega Drive Mini 2! It's lamentable that I only covered the games that are available on the overseas system; the JP MD Mini 2 featured exclusive titles that were bound by various factors (licensing issues, language barrier, general obscurity, etc.). Sadly, that was the case for certain titles such as Game Arts' Lunar games (the controversial Working Designs versions weren't included, and Game Arts fully owns the series) and Bandai Namco's StarBlade (despite having an overseas release, I'd presume it's because they replaced it with Rolling Thunder 2). It's been quite the undertaking when it came to the MD Mini 2 overviews. Truthfully, I didn't bother with the previous MD Mini outside of the marquee titles I cared about. Leaving a final note is a return to the beginning: The Sega Mega Drive Mini 2's staff credits featured a memorial tribute to legendary Sega designer Rieko Kodama, who passed away on May 9, 2022. Her resume speaks for itself: Champion Boxing, Ninja Princess, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Fantasy Zone II, Phantasy Star, Juuouki: Altered Beast, Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2, Magic Knight Rayearth, Deep Fear, Eternal Skies of Arcadia, 7th Dragon and Sega Ages Switch among others. Kodama was a pioneering figure for both Sega and female game developers; she was Sega's first lady of RPGs for good reason. There are plenty of retrospectives and interviews to read elsewhere. I at least appreciate they bothered to translate VS Puyo Sun, which was a cool experiment and saw the game FINALLY get a release in the west. A shame they didn't get to make a full port like they intended. So playing without 2p controller gives you Endless Puyo. That's a cool touch. Wonder why they didn't just put that in the menu.

Would you consider recording the OST for this game through the sound test and uploading it please? Nobody else has done it so far and emulators can't run the ROM to rip it.

Qualidade das vozes poderia ter sido melhor, penso assim, não precisava todos os personagens ter vozes, só os principais estaria bom e teria uma qualidade legal, mas a empresa preferiu que todos os personagens tem q ter voz, aí resultado é esse, estridente.
