This game has some of the most memorable music in Sega History. Every track is pure magic to the ears. I really wish this game would have made it to the Genesis/Mega as the SMS version was just a shadow of what this game was in the Arcade.

This kept you playing by the sheer virtue of having some absolutely amazing music. A mix of prog rock, with 80's pop sensibilities...beautiful!
Not to mention that the Genesis eventually got a four-player controller tap (and the SMS, as far as I know, never did). If Quartet had launched after the Genesis got the 4-way, we could have experienced Quartet's arcade version in all its glory. I was in the Air Force when I was playing Gauntlet 4 with three of my buddies. Quartet probably would have had us fighting over who got to pick Edgar and that sweet flamethrower of his. But not me. I was a Mary fan all the way. :)
11:40 Did AVGN copy this tune? It sounds very similar to the chorus in his theme tune.

DrDevil FX I think in some parts of some videos he actually uses that exact song, ripped from the game. I've never heard him make any mention of Quartet but with his extensive knowledge of older games it wouldn't surprise me if he's familiar with it.

+Possum Ridge Entertainment It does sound very similar, indeed! :) I'd never heard the tune from Quartet before but this is interesting.

I tried putting the comparison on WhoSampled, but it was rejected due to the similarities being too short. Maybe I could ask Kyle Justin himself about it.
Now this was a arcade soundtrack that should've had its own CD! Well at least there's always KZbin for this mama jama.

Yeah, they reused a couple track for that. Oki Rap without the vocals on some of (maybe all?) the zoomed out sections and I think the FM Funk track

...how is it that people keep mentioning the AVGN's theme song but nobody is saying anything about "It Doesn't Matter" from Sonic Adventure? Am I the only one hearing this?

Can anyone think of any pop songs from the 1980's that sound like the songs from Quartet? I heard one on the radio the other day and I've been tortured trying to find it somewhere. All I can say is that it had lyrics in English, I just don't know what they are! The song did have nice lush synth phrases that were very reminiscent of Quartet, though!

Only thing I could think of was New Order Bizarre Love Triangle. Probably not it, though, sorry :(
You are thinking of an economic boom that was unprecedented in Japan in the 90’s. That kind of thing can’t last forever. That is a modern country in an adolescent state. My advice is to consider the maturity that comes with experience of a fast changing time. The future is more about building stability and appreciating the value of society and building on the lessons learnt in hindsight to make a more rich culture that enjoys the unique nature of the culture and celebrates Japanese thinking and values whilst also developing new ideas that use that history as a foundation.
