The driving looks so satisfying.. man Arcade games had so much charm to it. Music, colorfull stages.. I miss this in the current console games.
@stealthcat1005 жыл бұрын
The more realism the less charm and imagination . The wonderful thing about games is that you can escape from reality and enter another reality that is different . This was always the case with the older games . With today’s soulless super realistic games all your doing is escaping one reality to enter pretty much the same reality that you already live so all the imagination, all the fantasy , all the charm and all the magic that makes you feel good in your heart vanishes. It’s just a simulation . Numb

I spent all of my highschool years playing Sega Rally 2 with friends on Saturday nights, after a movie at the local theater. Trying to beat our records, having fun mocking our driving and the quirks of the dead old cabinet which was slowly falling to pieces, suddenly pulling the handbrake to ruin each other's attempts or exploiting the secret cheat code that gave you the Delta and the Celica. By comparison, an ultra high-end PC at the time would have had a P2-300 with a Voodoo 1 GPU. That combo was roughly capable of running N64 like graphics at 30 to 60 FPS at 640x480. In other words, the Model 3 was much, much more powerful.

There is one thing in this game that I would like to point out: Pacenotes. If I was rallying with these notes, I would deal with it fairly well. Okay, okay, they are rather simple, but for a late 90s game they are pretty detailed. Calls like "narrows", "opens" and "caution" come up surprisingly often, and they even tell you the distance to the next corner. The first Colin Mcrae Rally did not have that integrated, and that is two years newer if I recall correctly. V-rally series at the time did not implement it at all.
