SegaSonic Popcorn Shop Vending Machine Demonstration [English]

A demonstration of Sega's 1993 coin-operated vending machine "game", SegaSonic Popcorn Shop.
I've translated all the dialogue and text in this video and subtitled it in English.
SegaSonic Popcorn Shop (セガソニック ポップコーンショップ) is a novelty popcorn vending machine that included a Sonic-themed mini-game in order to attract customers.
After picking a flavor (butter, salt, or chili), you turn a handle to help Sonic escape from Dr. Eggman, and you turn it again to help cook the popcorn as Eggman tries to snatch bits of it.
I ran through the game twice. The first time shows what you'd see if everything worked as intended. The second time, I ignored the directions the experience finishes with an error screen that asks the customer to seek assistance. I got quite a laugh out of imagining that sequence playing as the cabinet belches smoke.
After translating the other Japanese-only Sonic coin-op machines, I figured I might as well do this one too. It's a fun little novelty.

I know why this machine causes the error. There's a motor which moves crank (handle in japan) that will activate if there's no activity here, but the motor is absent in emulation, and thus this error happens. There are other errors through, such as every popcorn kernel is empty, hardware failure (as stated as above, but can happen in other way). It's a complex machine!

Hopefully if you'd find one of these out in the wild the 🍿 was somewhat new and hadn't been in the machine since 1993. A 30 year old game is fun to play, 30 year old 🍿 however; That's less fun to eat.

Too long ago to be sure haha), but it was worth every penny. I used it constantly for regular daily life stuff. I dunno about good self-study schedules. I took 8 credits of intensive language study and another 4 in related courses each semester for two years (a credit = how much classroom instruction time/week) and I would usually spend another 4-6 hours on class days doing independent study and assignments. After those two years, I studied abroad at a university in Tokyo, and after a semester there, I could get by. I got as far as preparing to take the JLPT level 2 test before I gave up. I totally burned myself out and shifted my study focus to something else.
