Impressionante a expressão dele; parece apenas apreciando uma bela paisagem, sem qualquer esforço...

Beautiful - a superb musician especially when you consider that this and most of the video recordings of him were done when Segovia was over 80 years old!

are you insane? This is so so so, every note played with beautiful emotion.. might as well be plucking the strings of my hearts cause that's what i derive from this exquisite performance.

3 people are so bloody ignorant that they don't know that this man practically invented the modern classical guitar and the techniques of playing it. No one ever did any where near as much as he to advance the art of classical guitar.

To me, it´s the most beautiful piece Andrés Segovia could ever have interpreted in his career. And if this is one year prior to his death, it´s memorable!

I'd love to see you play like that when you're 80 years old.

Listen to this from any other artist of today and see the difference, Guys, this sounds like mandolina. See how his hands are looking to find the right notes.

Yep. Anyone who listens to his recordings from, say 1927, will understand

Thank you very much for this video! Perhaps this is the Andres Segovia concert at the White House in 1986?

He seems to pause just before a given fingering to insure any mute that otherwise might happen doesn't; setting up before committing to the picking. In the music, as written, is there some flexibility for resting or is he precise even to some far flung fractions of a theoretical absolute timing? I realize, he's Segovia and far be it from me to speculate on perfection but, think in terms of infinity and some unrealizable absolution ... before you scold.

very fair points, within his context I have a lot of respect for him then. makes you wonder whether or not it would be disappointing to hear some of the older masters in person such a Sor etc

I'd have accepted I was past my prime well before then. I feel the same way about his more youthful performances any way not just this one. If you read my comments fully before trying to sound smart you would see that I am talking about him generally and not just discussing this specific performance

no I think I'm just about sane but I have always felt Segovia is over-rated. I understand he did a lot for bringing the guitar back to life etc etc but his playing has always just lacked a certain sense of drive and energy to me. It is especially clear when watching him play asturias, it puts me to slepe
