This is how reviews should be done. Thanks for keeping it low-key, without obnoxious behavior or "music", and providing information that is actually relevant in the real world. Well done, sir. Thank you. Incidentally, I just got one of these for free. It wouldn't charge; an error indicated the internal battery had dropped below its threshold "useable" voltage. This made it so it would not charge either battery. Fix was to remove the external battery, and then directly charge the internal battery through the port on the steering tube, then re-install the external battery, after charging it separately, too. Works perfectly now. But, yes, "performance" is indeed a bit lackluster. Oh, well, less chance I'll bust myself up, I suppose. And the price was right. Thanks again for the proper reveiw.

I have mine for 4 yrs now and 1500 miles,a few errors when i charge it and it only goes 12 mph top speed 😂, but i only use it to commute to work about a quarter mile each way,so its not a big deal,btw,i always use it in pouring rain for the last 4 yrs also.

I have an ex rental Ninebot ES unit without foldability with the external battery for also $150ish. It climbs hills extremely well, so it's fair to really test this out with a fresh external battery. I'm waiting on an ST Link V2 usb thingamajig to hack my way into mine and slap in some custom firmware to be able to squeeze more acceleration oomph as i live in a hilly city as well.

So the external battery is not something that one can take off easily and just charge that by itself?

@@sendtonirav it can be removed by taking off 5 screws with an Allen wrench, but its just not terribly convenient

Where did you buy an external battery replacement? Segway does not offer these for sale on their website. The internal batteries have been out of stock for a very long time.

In my country Its fairly easy to buy an ES3 Renting edition which has a more powerful motor and is not foldable for about 200 bucks with 100 miles on the clock. Good deal?

As long as the batteries work and are in good condition and it comes with the charger, I would say so.

The plus model goes 18, but the normal one is limited t 15

i relized that you said that the scooter performs porley up hill and not very powerful I think I know why I saw that you were only using the internet battery wich cuts the power by 400! WATS this may be the problem because you can get 800 wats out of it if you have both batteries on.

Top speed 20 mph. If you slow down just a hair youre at avg human running speed
